It's hard to grasp the enormity of "what's out there" and this chart brings that home even more.

Whether you attribute it all to a higher being or to something along the lines of the big bang theory, it's awe inspiring!

Gives a whole new meaning to the old hippie phrase, "Far out, man."

The Universe is just incredible. It's been said that with the expansion of the Universe there will indeed come a time when the inhabitants of Earth will see only space and believe our galaxy is the only one in existence. Hopefully they will have access to whatever witness to the contrary was left behind by past generations and know better. Not that it will matter.

I guess that will happen after the Milky Way galaxy collides with the Sagittarius galaxy.

The scale puts me in mind of electrons orbiting an atom. Perhaps that's all we really are. Perhaps atoms are, in reality, home to an entirely different dimension of extra / intra terrestrial life & civilisations.

I'm not a scientist but I do do a fair amount of trying to understand some of it. From what little I think I might have learned, I'd say that you could be pretty close at least.
