But Would You Be prepared To Die For It?
Is there any cause, faith, earthling you would be prepared to give up your life for?
In other words, would you take a bullet intended for your spouse, child, grandchild or best friend?

Yes, for my son, without question, as I imagine many or most people would (not *my* child, but theirs!). Once upon a time I would have risked, not given, but risked, my life for a cause. I currently have no such cause, but something might come up. They can only kill you once.

No I'd go for the bastard trying to shoot them.

I don't believe that this is something you plan. If the situation arises, you just do it.

That might work if you're close enough to get him before he shoots them.
Unless you want to get rid of them, anyway.
Of course the other part of that logic is that if you take a bullet for them, then the next bullet gets them, anyway.
I just try to keep my loved ones away from people with guns.

I enlisted in the Army during a war knowing full well I could be killed. Well, be quite honest, it wasn't something I was prepared to die for, but then being run over crossing a street isn't something I wanna die for.

In short, NO.
My responsibility to my wife, kids, grand kids is to protect, not to take a bullet and die for. As far as my best buddys, I would expect them to fight for their own.
I like what AFTR wrote,
I don't believe that this is something you plan. If the situation arises, you just do it.
I have not stats on this, but when threatened, it is best to go all out with whatever you have at hand, or just a hand or two.

What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?
She had the black vote all locked up.

Absolutely I would. The expression "taking the bullet " for someone is exactly what you've just described tudedog. Don't be picky

I can't imagine myself dying, so I expect I would take crazy stupid risks to help a loved one or to support something/someone I hold dear. Because of my military training, I tend to run toward trouble rather than away from it, if I think I can be of use.

your military training is flawed then. everyone knows not to run toward a disaster. You stand back for the second bomb to go off. (in military terms)
