Movie Tibetan video of the dead

Post by deadmannobody »

Hi all!

This movie is based on the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Story of a man who is clearly victimized by his oppressor, where he struggles in each lifetime to achieve and experience the freedom that has been denied.

The film was shot in Tibet, Morocco, Tenerife etc.

It made for the benefit of all sentient beings. Push "like" if you want to share it with people :)

I don't think we've ever had a film-maker on site before. Congratulations on your achievement.

Welcome to ForumGarden.

You might like to listen to this, it echoes the same problem.

The imagery around 3 minutes in is reminiscent of the start of Zelazny's "Jack of Shadows"...

Fine lines of light traced in the blackness - white, silver, blue, yellow, red-mainly straight, but sometimes wavering. They crossed the entire field of darkness, and some were brighter than others...

Slowing, slowing...

Finally, the lines were no longer infinite roadways or strands of a web.

They were long thin rods-then sticks - hyphens of light...

Ultimately, they were winking points.

For a long while he regarded the stars uncomprehendingly. It was only after a great time that the word “stars” seeped into his consciousness from somewhere, and a tiny glimmer began behind his staring eyes.

Silence, and no sensations but seeing...

And again after a long while, he felt himself falling-falling as from a great height, gaining in substance, until he realized that he was lying on his back staring upward with the full weight of his being once again on him.

“I am Shadowjack,” he said within himself, still unable to move.

He did not know where he was lying or how he had come to that place of darkness and stars. The sensation seemed familiar; however, the return felt like something previously experienced, though long ago.

A warmth about his heart spread outward, and he felt a tingling that quickened all his senses. With this he knew.

Beautiful and dreamlike scenery but I think you'd benefit from some help with the English captions.

Ou, yeah, stars make me the same! Once I had night in desert Sahara (you can see this place in the movie, where is red dunes) and watch on stars. I felt self like a grain of sand and like part of each star :)

Yes, thank you for comment! About captions you absolutely right, my English very weak. I started learn last year. If you can help me improve the text (maybe not all, but rude mistakes) this will be cool! Because I will send the movie to the film festival and better send right version.

Scene 1

- Well, opposition, have finished badly?

- What’s the ****, are you joking?

- Look away, bitch!

- Ok, wait a bit…

- What is the last thing you wish?

- Oh.. Yes, although it is unlikely to be the last, in fact, I'm a Buddhist. Please, after shot, say: "Your are about to be set face to face with the Clear Light. The light is the life energy. The life process. Do not fear it. Join it.

- Idiot.

Scene 2

- What did I do?

- Where are you about, you fool? Do you really think you could shift our head?

- Please, let me go!

- Too late… I’m so sorry, guy, those are the rules…

- What are the ****ing rules? What are you doing?

- Yeah, I don’t like it too much, around the shit… That’s just the system where we live in…

- I don’t want to stay in the **** and you can live like a man...

- Maybe you're right, maybe ...

Scene 3

- You are getting into politics again. What are you about?

- The same thing you have - freedom. But you think the freedom to be just physical. Power is like physical freedom. It let you make people what the real freedom does not.

- What is the “real freedom” for you?

- The feeling of own eternity. Eternity which results in people and the world.

- What is the result? That they are to bite heads off for money?

- You see evil in the world as it you are made from it. If to poke a dog, you can hardly have some true love from it. And now you can’t turn the back on it. Conspiracy, killing or riot? How do you know that you won’t be poisoned by the guards of yours, if they would like to do that? Without any real friends, always in threat… That’s the cost of physical freedom...

The photography is very nice.

Interesting use of various spiritual references, such as organ interspersed with what sounded like Buddhist monks, chanting a Hopi phrase (Assuming the reference to the Reggio film was deliberate).

And then the relative discordance of the 'creation - birth - death' transitions.

So it seems that once we begin to interact with our environment we upset the balance and begin the cycle that results in our return.
The home of the soul is the Open Road.

The trouble with "opposition" is that while it may be an exact translation, nobody in English would use it. You need a name showing at least some hostility. Strangely, "pal" or "friend" in this context is a very hostile term. Any stranger in a club who calls you "pal" or "friend" is threatening imminent violence. Anything else from this list at Thesaurus.com would be more specific for it to fit - "spy" or "bandit" or "traitor" would all fit but they go beyond the meaning in the original.

Scene 1

- Well, pal, is this a bad enough end?

- What the ****! Are you joking!

- Look away, bitch!

- Ok, wait a bit…

- What is the last thing you want? [or, more idiomatically: What is your last request]

- Oh.. Yes, although it is unlikely to be the last, in fact, I'm a Buddhist. Please, after the shot, say: "Your are about to be set face to face with the Clear Light. The light is the life energy. The life process. Do not fear it. Join it.

Scene 2

- What did I do?

- What do you think, you fool? Did you really think you could change our mind? [head or brain is physical, mind is mental]

- Please, let me go!

- Too late… I’m sorry, guy, those are the rules…

- What are the ****ing rules? What are you doing?

- Yeah, I don’t like it too much, around the shit… That’s just the system where we live in…

I think I'd lose the "F" word as well, censors in the US are pretty strict about the use of the word and I would imagine you want as wide of an audience as you can get.

Although you listed Credit Titles, you did not list any names under them. Were you the Actor, Writer, Director? Was this basically a solo effort?

I have thought about your film since I saw it. That's a good sign. :-)

Oh, one thing more. This character did not seem able to avoid being murdered. Why did you not choose for one life a natural death? AND--the only thing the character remembered, when dead, was love. Is that right?

Probably something about the futility of it. If you keep doing the same type of behavior, you keep coming to the same type of end and with the final one, it doesn't even matter if your peon or boss.

Is it sexist to comment on the nice butt on the actor?

No, for 2 reasons.

1. The writer chose for the actor to be naked, & the actor went along with it, thus leaving himself open for any&all comment.

2. The oppressed class (women) are not sexist in the same way a member of the ruling class (men) are. The sexual comments of a woman toward a man does not hold the same implied danger or humiliation.

Almost. I was alone shot movie (except scenes with two people). It bad for quality, because I should be and actor and operator and everyone. I tried add action move picture through zoom, but often I couldn't know what camera saw.

And yes and no. In last scene main character avoid death, but murdered his oppressor. It difficult to express... But I will try. Once I felt that I and the world are one and the same. My personality was created by world. From books, which i read. From people whom i met. From nature.

And only when I want be the same (as universe) - I the same. If I don't want - I will disappear after death. Impossible do evil to other and wish be one with he. I had desire express it and began shoot this movie. That create myself in future, as i created myself from past.

To sum up, victim and oppressor is the same, but victim know about this (oppressor not). And yes, victim is loved (little bit) his oppressor because speak with him :) And I want to express, that was oppressor without love and he no reborn in the end.

No, my point is end is different. Maybe it don't clear, but his oppressor was poisoned and didn't reborn as human (maybe as animal, if use buddhist metaphors).
