Social Housing Tenants told to give up Bingo, Sky and Ciggs

Post by Oscar Namechange »

Housing Association advises tenants to give up 'Sky TV, cigarettes and bingo' if they want to keep their homes | Mail Online

They are making the assumption that social housing tenants are feckless and don't know how to budget.

By co-incidence I have just got a lady awarded compensation after the council left her months with windows unrepaired...

It wasn't that so much but after a catalogue of errors she recieved a letter stating the work should be completed around the 5th February. Should and around !!!!!

Seriously, can you Imagine a private firm doing that !!! They'd be bankrupt within months.

This lady never left her house for a fortnight and they just never showed up.

The reason I relate this tale In comparison to the linked article Is because It became clear after dealing with them that they believed all Council tenants were either at home all day on benefit or retired and no harm done....

Outrageous !!!

Make up your mind oscar, they are either feckless and stupid benefit scroungers and need to get off their backside and find themselves one of those jobs that are out there or they know how to budget and are simply people doing the best they can in adverse circumstances.

Depends on the Individual... some are reckless spongers and some are not.

Not according to the daily mail amd some of the threads you have started in this forum rather seem to suggest you believe anyone on benefits of any kind is lazy and just doesn't want to work.

It's interesting to have forums that obviously governments don't think people have. Was talking to a Brit the other day and comparing the policies that our governments have . For instance, We used to have 'work for the dole scheme' it didn't work for many many reasons. Now I hear that the british government is trying to bring it in . Then he goes on to mention a few things in the past in Britain that didn't work ....guess who's government is trying to bring in those policies?

it's all a crock of shite
