i'ts been going on longer than spot would like to recall. Yet Prince Charles can't figure out why we hadn't done it already ...Go figure. Could you imagine your own flag to be illegal to raise in your own country? it happened to Ireland ....Their flag was illegal.....the very one that you see today ..it happened not that long ago.

My apologies.

I do remember, not too long ago, reading a much more detailed account of her original incarceration, and treatment, in which it was alleged that she was raped. I did not go back to this OP to verify before my last comments.

Sorry. So, I am guessing the title was more referring to her mistreatment at the hands of the authorities, than an actual physical attack.

[sigh] I am slow, but I do get there.

This is a very serious situation that everyone can actually do something about. And Now. If this situation continues it will be horrible for all Brits.

Seems to me that this is a problem for the Brits and Irish. If they haven't been able to see their way out of the mess yet, I don't know what I can do for them.

And Marian Price is just one of probably millions in the world who has been mistreated by their own government.

I'm Australian, therefore I come under the same regeme as all Commonwealth peoples. Their Queen is my Queen The same Queen that gave her her pardon of mercy.

Australia is also part of the Anzus treaty so that connects me with America. All our governments are connected. Write to your congress (there are lots doing it )

Put it this way . If Marian dies in prison or as a result of her incarceration...... will you be attending the olympics?

This is what Spot put up in another thread .

It has emerged that Old Bailey bomber Marian Price, 57, has been placed in an all male prison.

On Tuesday the prison service confirmed Ms Price was taken to Maghaberry prison for "operational reasons".

On Monday Secretary of State Owen Paterson said he made the decision because the threat posed by Price had "significantly increased".

Price appeared at Londonderry Magistrates Court on Monday.

She was charged with encouraging support for an illegal organisation, following a dissident republican rally in Derry on Easter Sunday.

The defendant, whose name was given in court on Monday as Marion McGlinchey, was accused of addressing a meeting encouraging support for a proscribed organisation, the IRA.

A police sergeant told the court that she had been at an Easter Commemoration in Derry's city cemetery, where she held a piece of paper for a masked man who read a speech from it.

Priority

Her lawyer said that she had been asked to hold it because it was a windy day and that she had no idea what the speech contained.

The judge granted her bail on that charge.

However, she remains in custody after the secretary of state decided to revoke her release licence on Sunday night.

In a statement Mr Paterson said: "My priority is the safety of the people of Northern Ireland.

"The Government will not hesitate to use all the powers at its disposal under the law to counter the residual terrorist threat."

Price was jailed for the IRA bombing of the Old Bailey in London in 1973.

She is due to reappear in court again by videolink on the 9 June. (Last year)

Okay just another reason ....So the queen came and went ....why is Marian still in solitary confinement? Now in a so called hopital war at another prison?

Oh, no. Not just 'no', but HELL NO!

I don't know about the political situation in Australia. My co-workers who are Aussies, tend to have little interest in talking about politics when they are over here.

However the political landscape on this side of the planet is not terribly inviting, these days. There are almost as many people unhappy with the Brits these days as are unhappy with my country.

I have no intention of being in the middle of whatever will be going on in London this summer.

I don't like crowds, I don't like tourists, and I don't like being in places where 'Security' is a concern.

If Ms Price were to become a casualty of the Queen's hospitality, I suspect London will be a very unhappy place to be.

I plan to be elsewhere.

Perhaps Australia.

As for writing my congressman, the guy is a right wing dolt who would sanction such behavior. Writing him will only succeed in gaining me more attention than I care for.

Perhaps after the coming election. [sigh]

And just because I was arguing with ya, Fuzzy, don't think I don't care about Marian Price.

The problem is that it is not just her we're talking about.

Her treatment is just the latest example of what the Irish have been up against for a couple of centuries.

The Crown wish to use her as an example of what happens to those who defy British Rule.

They seem to have already forgot how that usually turns out.

Rather than wasting time with my local congresscritter, I have spoken with people at my church.

We are going to follow the advice found in this article

There is one very simple thing each of us can do today. We can e-mail Owen Paterson at patersono@parliament.uk and tell him to free Marian Price immediately. This may be especially important for those of us who don't live in Ireland. The British government has often proven very vulnerable to international pressure.

Will it help? We'll see.

There's also another reason why we should be concerned about Marion. As you say she's not the only one . When london had it's riots recently one of our police commissioners decided to up the riot squad by 100 men ..Why? we don't have riots. Apparently because it happened over in England it could happen here... So on that basis and reasoning, if they can lock up Marion ...We're next....... their logic not mine.

Four days ago I interviewed a British guy a retired soldier of the British government. He was in the hospital with his wife a Filipina. He said he loves to stay & die here. He`s a Catholic. He said that he loves all except POLITICS. Why? Because he says its divisive. It creates hatred in all of us. Brother against brother. Sister against sister. Mother against father etc.

I asked him whom we he would obey if there`s war, the British Prime Minister or the Queen of England. He said it`s the latter.

I browsed the starter thread because the title says the Rape of Marian Price. I did not read she was physically raped. Or I thought she was?

The Irish Republican Prisoners Support Group

are holding a protest on Saturday May 5th calling for an end to internment without trial, the release of political hostages, and for the reinstatement of political status.

The protest takes place at Kilburn Square London, commencing 12 noon.

All are welcome. Nearest Tube Station - Kilburn High Road.
