Just had 'finest' Tesco fish, chips n mushy pea's. £4.50 per portion.

Nice but at the same price could have had the same at local chip shop and would have had a larger fish, nicer batter, definately better mushy peas, chips debatable.

Your thoughts on the comparison of meals you have had?

I'm working away from home and I dont always want to cook after work. Last night I had a chicken dinner ready meal from a famous manufacturer and it was dreadful.

Some of the sainsbury's "be good to yourself" range are acceptable but I think I'm gonna cook as much as I can. The odd fish and chips, chinese or Indian is ok but nothing beats fresh home cooked food

A British dish usually eaten with Pie and mash. Made from Marrowfat peas until they go to Mush.

Re~ Your previous thread about making meals of what you have In the cupboards... Last night my Husband took Chicken wings ( meant for my Foxes) and roasted them. Soaked some noodles, sliced some left over mushrooms, peppers and chilli's and stir fried, made a sauce by reducing some left over plums and ginger and It was better than any take-away. :driving:

Hubby's hamburgers fresh, sizzling hot off the grill are the best burgers. They beat the fast food hamburgers any day.

I like Tescos finest lasagne. I'm the only one in my house that eats lasagne and just can't be bothered to make it just for me. Tescos is quite good - and good value for money

I'd rather have take out, but there is just so much fat content, so I stick to my own cooking.

once in a while for a treat is awesome and I love fish n chips!:guitarist

I have never eaten a TV Dinner, prepared meal or take out that I could not have done better and much cheaper by preparing my self. Meal preparation really does not take that much time if you prepare and are organized. I think some times we just plain get lazy.

"BP MMM" would be something totally different here in the states and something totally undesirable in reference to anything ingested. :wah: :yh_wink :yh_kiss

Ahhhh fond memories of salt beef and peas pud!!!

I've duplicated this in Australia by using peas soup, thick from the can, and slicing it.. YUMMO.

Mushy peas, like vegemite, are something you probably have to be born to.

Fresh home cooked food any day. A good Aussie home made hamburger (you buy the minced beef, add the onion and spices and egg to bind) on proper bread (not a steamed cardboard bun) is awesome.
