Canada is up to 16 Metals now in total - and I believe we have tied with the U.S. for 7 Gold. Please don't quote me on that, but from where I can see, we have and if that is this case, then we are REALLY doing well. Good on Canada, we still have a ways to go.

Wow! What a game!!!

Both teams played great, but Canada was unstoppable.

Two 5 on 3 power plays against Canada and they still managed to shut them out. The Canadian Goalie was amazing, and what a defense.

It was not easy win, the USA just kept coming and coming and actually had more shots on net that Canada, but a magnificent 2-0 win for a Gold.

Kudos to Joannie Rochette

She won the bronse in womans figure skating last night just mere days after loosing her mother to a massive heart attack.

There is courage for you people bless her. Now the real battle begins for this young lady.

moonpie;1285203 wrote: Hi all, I hate to be the one negatve person on this thread about the Olympics. Winter Olympics are great, if they are held in other cities.

I live approx 20 miles out of Vancouver, and work in Vancouver. There are already road closures that started 2 weeks ago, and there are definitely more to come. Even the mail box on the street that sits outside of my office buildng as been taken away, "because there is going to be "no parking on the streets", and therefore a mail truck cannot stop to pick up the mail. HUGE INCONVENIENCE.

Alot of people are being affected one way or the other. The amount of money that is being spent is unbelievable, and we will be paying for it for years and years to come.

There may be some pro arguments about all this, as for increasing tourism for years to come, etc., but I don't think the pros outweight the cons of this. Not when they (the provincial government) are slashing programs for elderly, cutting budgets on schools, and not beefing up medical care so there are so many long waits for elective surgeries. Even to get a pacemaker, there is a long wait.

So the Olympics are great, but only if you live in another city!!:-5:-5

I really feel like I have to retract what I said a few weeks ago. Even though I have not participated in going to any of the events or going downtown to see what everybody has been talking about. I really, really have to say that seeing all the Canadians come together as a nation has been truly impressive, because I have just never seen this before.

Besides doing really well in the medals count, I must give a big hand of applause to all the work that has been done to put this on, and a huge and heartfelt applause to all our athletes.:-4:-4

It would be really icing on the cake though to see Team Canada and Kevin Martin in Curling win Gold though. :):):)

She was a wonder to watch, as were the other ladies. But Joannie was an inspiration to continue, after such a hard time with her mother's death. I am sure her mother was smiling from heaven that night.

Mens Hockey should be a good one to watch.

Darn sad news they won't let Mckeever X Country ski this afternoon. I wanted so bad for this young man to ski.

Brian McKeever is legally blind but qualified to ski and be one of 5 canadian contenders however we had to cut one of the men and sadly he was cut. I know it was a tough decision just a shame as he would have been the first athlete to compete in both the olympics and paralympics. Good luck in the Para. Brian.
