Your name means dog?

They have some weird meanings for names!

Mine says:

Gender: Female

Origin: Greek

Meaning: Dark Beauty

I knew my name was of Greek origin, but that is the first time I've seen it mean Dark Beauty! Lol! They're being nice (not that I mind!) :D Whenever I have looked it up before, my name simply meant black! How boring is that?

Although, tbh, I think it comes from the melanin which determines your skin colour. Obviously both names come from the same root. I had a friend named Melina and apparently, in medical terminology (so I'm told) melina means diarrhoea!

Can you imagine having THAT for a name??? :p :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

(And, as we were at school at the time, you can imagine what we nicknamed her from then on! Poor girl!) :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Lol, but I'm blonde, blue-eyed and very pale skinned.

I'm told I have Irish celtic colouring. Thanks dad! :wah:

It would be interesting to find out why people's names were chosen.

When my mum was a little girl she used to read a weekly comic. One of the stories in it each week was about a girl who lived alone on a hawaiian island. That girl was called Melanie. So I got named after a girl in a comic! :wah:

I have a friend called Kay. When her mum was in hospital having her she asked her husband to bring in her shoes which she had accidently left at home. He brought them in in a Kay's shoe box. So when Kay was born they were all shocked as they had all been expecting a boy. They had nothing for a girl, not even a name. So Kay's mum, glancing at the shoe box, discovered inspiration! Hence she was named Kay. What a way to get a name! :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Beelzebub is the name of a demon derived from Ba‘al Zebûb, Ba‘al Zəbûb or Ba‘al Zəvûv (Hebrew בעל זבוב), with numerous variants - a deity worshipped in the Philistine city of Ekron.

In ancient contexts, there appears to have been little, if any, meaningful distinction between Beelzebub and the polytheistic Semitic god named Ba‘al. Monotheistic Jewish reference to Baal was almost certainly pejorative, and grew to be used among other terms for Satan. The name later appears as the name of a demon or devil, often interchanged with Beelzebul.

I suppose it depends on which source you prefer. Beelzebub was him who, in the happy realms of light clothed with transcendent brightness, didst outshine Myriads, though bright. Admittedly he's come down a bit socially since then, changed in outward lustre and lost his sparkle to a large extent.

I have 4 names so I had to lump all the meanings together. I came up with: A gracious Hebrew female with a Greek ancestor, who speaks Latin with a Scottish burr and when celebrating a victory was anointed in a Sea of Bitterness.
