any one go mountain biking ????

Post by spot »

I haven't used a bike this year yet. There are a couple downstairs that fit me.

One of them I collected after an eBay bid from a chap driving up the M5 who dropped it off to me at Gordano Services. Being that's on the south bank of the Avon I rode it home along the pixie trail and up the side of the cliff into Leigh Woods. The one thing not to do if you're beasting up a cliff-face is turn round and see how fast it'll go in the other direction, you get tired very quickly that way. It baffles me how I survive some of these stunts, it really does.

When flower power came along I stood for Human Rights, marched around for peace and freedom, had some nooky every night - we took it serious.

i came another cropper last saturday went over the handle bars and bent my front wheel.

One thing I learned early on-why you can spend £100 plus on a good wheel. Bent a couple more and it starts making sense. I've carried a mountain bike many a time intentionally but when you are carrying because you can't ride it is really really annoying. I send my wife on a wheel building course at least we (well she) can make running repairs to a bent wheel now.

You actually have more serious accidents on a bike with suspension cos you can go faster so when you do lose it it hurts more.

Don't forget you can also put road tyres and fit panniers if you want to tour. I cycled from bath to glastonbury, cheddar gorge, salisbury all round there, just keep off the scrumpy. wonder how bad the traffic is now. Got knocked off my bike in bath by a twit who forgot he had a fourteen foot caravan behind him. Very thoughtful he was-pulled wide to avoid me then turned left in front of me.
