The most cheerful bit of news in weeks

Post by spot »

A Qantas Airbus A330-300 flying from Singapore to Perth with 313 people on board landed at Learmonth Airport near Exmouth after declaring an in-flight emergency following turbulence. Three cabin crew and more than 30 passengers sustained injuries, 15 of them serious, including fractures and lacerations, officials said. Several people were taken to the hospital in Exmouth.

The idea that something that big can be shaken so hard from the outside as to fracture so much of the contents and still manage to be flown to the nearest airport amazes me. Well done Qantas, congratulations Airbus and get well soon to the people still in hospital. It's things working this well that make me think it's all worth the effort.

This is why when I am flying I always try to make sure that the airplane I am flying on is an airbus, they seem to have a lot more survivability than the other crowd's airplanes.
