What We'd Wear if China Didn't Exist
According to the article, 41% of Americans' clothing is made in China, 57% made elsewhere in the world and only 2% made in the USA. I'm guessing it's the same for most nations these days.
If you were to shed all clothing that you're wearing as you read this that isn't made in your country, what would you be left with? Would you be left naked or well covered? Or somewhere in between?
I'd be left wearing my black leggings which were made in the USA and sold by Newport News Company and also my feet would still be warm in my wool Darn Tough socks made in Vermont. However, my Hanes zip up fleece sweatshirt would have to go ... it's made in El Salvador.
I wonder if most Chinese people wear clothes actually made in China? :-3

I think most of us know our electronics primarily come from abroad. So what about your clothing?
What We'd Wear if China Didn't Exist
I suspect without actually checking all is from either China or India or at least the far east, I doubt any is from the UK

My stuff all says, "Hecho in Mexico" so, I remain fully clothed. (Whew!)

I think we could dress rather well without China:

No doubt but at those prices we'd be going hungry. I think that is a big part of the problem, cost. Anyway, I sure would like one of those buckskin shirts. Nice.

I'd love to buy US-made clothing, but it just isn't out there! at this point, I'm happy if it's not from China.
Right now: shirt is from Indonesia, pants from Mexico. Boots are US-made.

Possibly Levi's that were made in America and a quality product. They are completely garbage, imported, low quality rags now.....so yes, I believe I would wear a pair of Levi's if they weren't outsourced.

My brother was at home trying on his costume for a fancy dress party... Toga, sandals, wreath of Laurels etc etc.... he got a phone call saying his 3 year old boy had been driven to the Doctors surgery because he wouldn't stop vomiting and could my brother meet his carer there.... worried sick he just leapt In the car and took off...
You can imagine the rest.

Out of curiosity now I've gotten into the habit of checking the labels on my clothes when I'm getting dressed and it seems like the majority are made in various Central American countries v/s China. Now ... if we can just shift their manufacture further north into North America, it would be a good trend.

When Clinton signed NAFTA we were all happy little sheep. Those rebel-rousers complaining about losing manufacturing jobs were just a bunch of worriers and Chicken Littles.
Lesson is...remain sheep...it is easier on the blood pressure.
