This recipe is from ancient Greece

Mustacei ( Must Rolls)

Ingredients:

--------------

500g wheat flour

300ml grape juice (or young wine)

2 tblsp anise seeds

2 tblsp cumin seeds

100g lard

50g grated cheese (sheep's cheese would be best)

ca. 20 bay leaves

Instructions:

---------------

Pour some must over the flour, add anise and cumin seeds, the lard and cheese. Work it together until you have a reasonable dough. Form rolls, then put one bay leaf under each of them.

Bake 30-35 minutes at 180 deg C.

Note:

-------

It's better to make the must rolls with yeast dough, because then they can be kept longer, and they are not so hard. To make the yeast dough, add 40g yeast to the flour + grape juice, leave it a while until you continue like above.

Ingredients:

1½ lb. dried ful or fava beans

Fava beans were on Hannibal Lecter's menu in the movie "Silence of the Lambs" as he teased Clarise through the prison bars.

Umm G-man ..........one of my best friends when I was growing up was Lebonese and I helped her wash the beans. Afterwards it was suggested that I wash my hands in petrol then clothing wash powder. It was just a normal recipe to her, ancient or not . It's really nice though .

Lamb's Wool

Take 1 1/s kg (3lbs) of honey, 4 teaspoons of grated nutmeg, 40 g (2 oz) ginger and the juice of 4 lemons. Add 18 l (4 gallons) of beer and heat until the herbs are well blended with the beer. Strain and serve immediately (presumably a friend dropped in)
