Do you eat leeks plain by themselves at all?

Cube, boil until soft, into a baking dish and cover with cheese, into the oven until golden - magnificent.

I love Brocolli, Brocolli tops, roast parsnips, sweetcorn, spinach, runner beans, swede, turnip, marrowfat peas, probably more that I can't think of right now.

I can't stand sprouts, cabbage or cauliflower.

Well K, have you tried that artichoke we talked about yet? :)

I forgot in my original post to mention the humble avocado.

We always had avocados when I was growing up, had our own avocado trees as well, but I never wanted to try them.It was two summers ago I finally tried eating one straight out of the peel with salt and by my second half I was hooked forever. Being in the southwest, they're in a lot of our dishes out here and not just as guacamole either. I buy them only in summer when they're 50 cents a piece, 15-20 at a time. Usually Hass avocados from California but I'm not picky.

Please try one and tell me how you like it! :)

I have to say after hearing some from FG voice their preference for home made fries I tried them and they truly are better than any fries you'll buy anywhere else...

Very simple and very delicious...

Rosemary-Garlic Oven Roasted Potatoes

4 russet potatoes, skin left on, well scrubbed and dried

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon dried rosemary, crumbled (or 1 tablespoon chopped fresh)

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

Olive oil

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Spray a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

Cut potatoes into cubes about 1 to 11/2 inches square. Place in medium mixing bowl and sprinkle with garlic, rosemary, salt and pepper. Drizzle generously with olive oil and toss to coat. Pour potatoes out into baking dish and arrange in a single layer. Roast at 400 degrees F for about 1 hour, or until potatoes are crispy on the outside and tender when pierced with a fork. Stir about halfway through cooking time.

Serves 4 to 6

Wow...How is it that home grown green beans can be that much better than store bought green beans?...

Oh wait I know,..they're not grown with herbicides, pesticides, and steroidal cow dung...

And they're not subject to food additives to the point of lumps growing out of your fn throat...

Sliced and fried in butter with salt and paprika and black pepper!

Baked in the oven with olive oil and herbs!

Mashed and slathered in gravy!

Sometimes sliced and eaten raw....might be an acquired taste like turnips.

:)

Oh yeah raw turnips! Very earthy taste to them. Never had them cooked though.

Absolutely...I love fried okra...

I love deep fried mushrooms dipped in Blue Cheese dressing the most...If I don't have Blue Cheese dressing I'll settle for Ranch dressing or ketchup...

I have some marinating in vinegar, sugar and jalapeños...

Sweet and Spicy Cucumbers

I have a bizarre sort of recipe...

Try this...A family invention...

2 whole large cucumbers skinned and sliced a 1/4 inch thick

2 cups of vinegar (I use cider vinegar)

2 cups sugar

2 jalapeños sliced 1/4 inch thick

Bring the vinegar and sugar to a boil...Place in bowl...Add cucumbers and jalapeños and let marinate for at least an hour (The longer it marinates the better they are)...Obviously use the jalapeños according to your tolerance...
