I just lost Shorty 3 hours ago. I can't quit crying. Stupid, lovable,cuddly, happy, excited dog. He would make sure he was underneath the sheet in the "nooks" for the night.
I knew something was wrong 30 minutes after I went to bed. He got out of the fence and onto the Hiway. He was still warm when I found him. Thank God they ran over his head and he didn't suffer.
I am so very sad

This is so, so sad.
It is bad enough loosing a family pet at the end of a long and happy life but to loose one under such circumstances is devastating.

That is so tragic, NV, no wonder you are devastated, finding your dear Shorty like that. Thank goodness his death must have been instantaneous, at least he would not have felt anything. But you of course do, and will for some while, but those pictures will fade in time. Be strong, he is pain free and running about still. I am so sorry you have lost your dear pal, thinking of you NV.
