abandoned kittens

Post by wardah »

we've got 2 little kittens - one was rejected by its mum and I would guess is about 4 weeks, and the other was left behind by its mum, or maybe she died, not sure, he was found in a garden anyway - think he's about 3 weeks.

the thing is... there isn't exactly an abundance of pet shops or vets here... we've been feeding them goats milk mixed with a bit of egg yolk and syrupy stuff, but does anyone have a better idea as to what to give them? really can't find any kittenny milk formula anywhere here - would baby formula be a good idea?

we've had them for a week so far and they're growing and seem to be doing well, but i'd hate to give them something that was bad for them. any ideas??

thanks!

If you can't get kitten formula, the goats milk is a good substitute.

If they are putting on weight and having solid poops, then you're

on the right road. I might lay off the "syrupy stuff" though. Be

advised if you do that, they might balk at the new taste and not

eat as much, so you'd want to introduce a little back in until

they eat again.

When they seem to want something more, starting them on "solid"

food, you can try either kibble soaked in water and mashed or

maybe even human baby food.

What might worry me a little is their immune systems. I would try

to get them to a vet soon.

Good for you for taking care of the little ones!!

By the way, what kind of goats? My family had Nubians and Saanens

for many years...
