What kind of Pets does everyone have?

Post by Freya »

I have 2 cats.....one named Cairo who is a genius and will fetch a ball for hours on end. The other cat is named Darwin...and well, what can I say,..........the vet called him a special needs cat. Happy and healthy, just not all there! I then have a 10 year old rose hair Tarantula, as well as a new "spiderling" tarantula that I just bought. She's about the size of a thumb tack....very cute!

I'm new here by the way and am enjoying your forum very much.

Most definitely kittens. I've had 5 cats now, all one at a time. (Sheesh! I must be getting old!)

And I'm getting to be pretty good at training them.

This is my little kitty, Neo. He's 5 this year and is a joy. A real people-kitty. and a lap-sitter to boot. Anybody have any idea what breed this is? I once thought it was a ragdoll/himalayan cross but I'm not sure. Mom was a long haired Tabby.

Brambling, I know what it's like to go walking without your dog. My girl

used to go on almost-daily walks with me (about 4 miles) until May

2003 when she had to have a leg amputated due to cancer. She has

done great, is still very active at 12 years of age, but the first few

times I had to go for my walk without her, my left side felt so EMPTY.

I had to force myself to continue. It's a little easier now, but not much.

That was so much a part of our lives together.

I do come back from my walks now and take her for her own walk,

much shorter in length (probably a couple football fields or so) and

she enjoys it.

I have one husband, three teenagers, and one three year old; does that count? :-3

Seriously, I have a cat named Oliver. He is half Siamese and half whatever and he's only got half a tail (I think it's a birth defect?) Anyway, he's a beautiful cat and ever so gentle with the baby, which I found very surprising. He allows her to do almost anything to him and he doesn't get mean about it.

My Staffordshire's name is Zeus also. He runs at about 80 pounds. Love Akitas.

We have two cats (who are gay by the way....but that`s a whole other thread! LOL)

Thier names are Peanut Butter, and Jelly. We recently lost our very first cat, Nuke. He is dearly missed, the only cat I know that thought he was a dog! He was great!

Used to have seal points. Beautiful cats. Sort of the pit bulls of the felines.

flowers wrote: Hi Firefly,

I love dogs too whatever their breed, German Sheps are beautiful. Does anyone think you're weird for loving dogs with so much time/energy invested? Sometimes I think many people in my life jus don't understand my bond with my dog. Or that I place too much importance on her when humans should be more central to my life? Does that make sense? Don't get me wrong I can be quite a people person too! :-2
As a dog lover and someone that has heaped plenty of love and care on the animal I find nothing wrong with liking dogs. They are smarter than people give them credit for being. The dog is your friend and he will watch out for you. He will come around and show you as much love and affection as you bestow on them. Only thing wrong with you is the friends that you have. The dog'll get you good friends.

Brambling wrote: Hi Everyone, I agree with all you say, dogs give unconditional love, know how you feel, and know how those around you feel, watch a dog's reactions and it will tell you about your immediate world. My dog died last November 1st. We had been the best of friends for 13 1/2 years. I am still grieving, I don't walk in the woods, I feel part of me has been amputated, even the garden feels different. this will probably sound stupid to some, I want to offer a home to another dog, but I'm sure Fate will send the right one my way. All the dogs we have ever owned have arrived by some odd sequence of events, I don' think this time will be any different. Just as an interesting aside, we are not 'cat' people, but out of the blue we have been adopted by one. I know who she belongs to, and have returned her several times, but she still comes back. I wonder if she is here to comfort? It is good to hold her warm, furry body, and feel her purring like a little motor.

What do you think?

Elizabeth
I think the cat knows an animal lover when it sees one. If you get a dog early enough the cat will become a fixture. Showing sympathy? You bet. If you've ever seen animals mourn their mates you know that there is more to them than meets the eye. Oh? Doh! That's right they have no feelings. Gee, excuse me for being so dumb.
