An East Anglian Childhood

Post by Ozay »

' An East Anglian Childhood' by Sylvie Haymon. This is an auto-biography of her childhood brought up in early 20th centuary Norfolk to a well to do middle class family. She befriends her Nurse Maid and often visits there family who live in poverty in a village near the coast away from her home in Norwich. It is interesting how she adapts to a different class to her own and her realationship with her Nurse Maid 'Maud' who is pretty much cold talking towards her most of the time but that is just her nature. Sylvie goes spud picking and fruit picking and amongst other things meets some Gypsies. A great book, one that i have read page for page....makes a change!

I only ever read biographies Ozay.

I was a bit embarrassed when I first picked a couple of biographies by female authors from the library, but now it doesn't bother me. So I'll have a look for this one you recommended.

Good thinking on your part for posting in the title along with your synopsis.
