Dumbledore is Gay..

Yep J.K. Rowling announced that Dumbledore, in the Harry Potter series, is gay. I've read all 7 books and did not pick up on this. Did anyone else suspect this?

I think she's just trying to draw more attention to the books. :)
The poolhall's a great equalizer. In the poolhall, nobody cares how old you are, how young you are, what color your skin is or how much money you've got in your pocket... It's about how you move. I remember this kid once who could move around a pool table like nobody had ever seen. Hour after hour, rack after rack, his shots just went in. The cue was part of his arm and the balls had eyes. And the thing that made him so good was... He thought he could never miss. I know, 'cause that kid was me.

It's mostly in the final volume, it's not hard to pick up on there.

It is very subtle reference and, without her telling it straight out, I doubt anyone would have really come up with that as a solid conclusion. It does seem as though she had that in mind when she wrote the final book and I can see why she'd point it out since it seemed to slip by.

Though it will add to the fame of the books, she's hardly in a position to need a publicity stunt. :wah:

That's what I had thought too, but the books have already drawn international attention, and are being translated into several of different languages, and are some of the most well-known books of the 21 century. Just how much more publicity does she want? Maybe she wants to add some diversity to the characters to make kids (the books are targeted towards 12 year olds) feel more comfortable with homosexuality. Yeah, that's gotta be it (I can't think of anything else :p). If kids find our that some of their favourite book (or movie) characters are gay, the end result could be that they become more comfortable with it.

btw, call me a late starter, but I've barely reached book 4 (just started reading the series a few months ago), and I never would have guessed. I love the books so far!
