Macbeth For Kids

I'm writing an adaptation of Macbeth to be performed by kids between the ages of 3 and 12. There are eight kids and all but one can remember basic lines.

The three year old will basically be a)in the witches' cauldron and b)a toad hopping across stage that MacB follows to find the witches again for the second visit.

I'm taking a lot of license with the story and eliminating a few characters. The basic plot ideas are that people should be careful not to get carried away with bad ideas, that witches are tricky with words and that the guilt a person feels after acting badly is not worth the price.

I'm thinking of putting in funny stuff like Macbeth taking "crazy pills" before every killing rampage and he'll run around the stage killing everyone every time there is a death scene. :wah:

Any ideas?

it's a summer project. They'll have about a week to rehearse.

Three year olds find it fun telling people what to do and publicly being allowed to boss people around . If you give them lines along this basis they will remember them . You can trust me on that one it's an old trick they use on the preppies around at the school. Make them soldiers, policeman any kind of authority and they will do it well.:D

It will be interesting to see what props we can come up with. I'm writing the dialogue in a really simple way that explains what is happening in simple words and with (I hope) a lot of humour.

ie) Banquo and Macbeth on way home from battle saying "Well, we ought to get a raise after this!"

Hey, I grew up with a lot of guilt and I turned out ok. :D
