On the anniversary of my father passing 13th September

Post by Oscar Namechange »

DANCE WITH MY FATHER..LUTHER VANDROSS

Back when I was a child

Before life removed all the innocence

My father would lift me high

And dance with my mother and me and then

Spin me around till I fell asleep

Then up the stairs he would carry me

And I knew for sure

I was loved

If I could get another chance

Another walk, another dance with him

I'd play a song that would never, ever end

How I'd love, love, love to dance with my father again

When I and my mother would disagree

To get my way I would run from her to him

He'd make me laugh just to comfort me,

Then finally make me do just what my mama said

Later that night when I was asleep

He left a dollar under my sheet

Never dreamed that he

Would be gone from me

If I could steal one final glance

One final step, one final dance with him

I'd play a song that would never, ever end

Cause I'd love, love, love to dance with my father

again

Sometimes I'd listen outside her door

And I'd hear her, mama cryin for him

I pray for her even more than me

I pray for her even more than me

I know I'm prayin for much too much

But could You send back the only man she loved

I know You don't do it usually

But Lord, she's dyin to dance with my father again

Every night I fall asleep

And this is all I ever dream

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. R.L. Binyon

Thanks my friend. They say time heals but I miss him so much. I put this here because I'm miles away from his grave at the moment.

time does heal, its been 44 years since my dad passed.....and I think of him everyday.....its just a little easier.

he would be so proud of you, all the things you have done in your life, your accomplishments, your pride, doing things sometimes you don't want to do, loving and cherishing your family, taking care of all the animals and he would love how you take care of Peter.:-4

you have also survived many ups and downs, and look what your doing now?

- your dad is so proud of you.

Oh Julie:-4

That is indeed beautiful. It's hard to lose one's parents and you remember always....the pain just fades away a bit.

September 13th is my Mom's birthday, and it is also a hard day to deal with due to her passing.

We'll have to cry together tomorrow and remember them with love:-4

Your Dad was a special man:-6

Thankyou Kathy :-4

He'd be saying right now 'For heavens sake girl, pull yourself together and don't make so much fuss' :wah: British war time stiff upper lip and all that.

I will private message you tomorrow on their anniversay's Kathy :-4:-4

44 years or 1 year.... It's hard when It was your father.

There is a story to his last moments but I can't post them here anymore. ;)

He was a very Political person and what I am trying to do right now would have pleased him i know. When my eldest brother heard what I was doing, he said 'I wish Father could have seen It' and that meant the world to me.

Thankyou :-4 he knew he was dying and he left a poem with a picture of himself when he was young in his pilots uniform.

He also left us all the same hand written note that he addressed 'To my wife and children'

"Please forgive me for all the things I should have said when I did not say them.

Please forgive me for all the things I did say when I should not have said them...Dad. "
