Broken Bones Question

Post by Peg »

Until now, I've never had a broken bone. I broke it right above the ankle in 4 places. My toes were black and blue, but they seem to be getting darker instead of lighter. Is this normal?

:-4A call to the doctor is a good idea Peg. I don't know, only ever had a hairline fracture that was nothing much. Get better soon.

You should have the doc look at those toes.

A few days is one thing, but over a week, the color should be getting back to normal, I believe.

I could be wrong, as I am not a medic, but I have seen my share of foot injuries.

Hope you feel better Peg and are getting a lot of rest.

I had a trimalleolar fracture (broken ankle). I was in hard casts, walking boot, and then an aircast for 11 weeks. I wore the aircast for a year though when I went on my walkabouts.

Luckily I worked for the company that made the aircast.

It can't hurt to get it looked at. I broke my ankle and tore up some tendons, my foot was black for months the blood from the injury takes forever to go through bruising then healing.

I think we should have a cast signing party. Everyone post what they want to write and Peg can have the kids in the family transfer them to plaster!:guitarist

I have never had a broken bone Peg, but a lot of medical issues/problems do get worse before they get better & heal.

Have you thought of trying some arnica? Either as a cream topically

applied or tablets taken orally, it does help some with bruising and

swelling. And most of all, keep your foot elevated (above your heart)

for as many hours of the day as possible.

Helped me a couple years back when a cantankerous equine smashed

the heck out of my leg from hip to big toe...

I've never even heard of arnica.

My stepdaughter just called. She thinks our oldest grandson has a broken arm. :(
