Saint's Psychoanalysis Couch

Post by Saint_ »

This is a little thread that I revive from time to time. It's based on an old Air Force psych-exam that has been made more user-friendly. I add in my own deductions...

Welcome to Saint's Psychoanalysis Couch! Please fill out the following form while you are waiting:

Put a "4" next to the group of words that best describes you, and a "1" that is definitely not you.

Then put a "3" next to the group of words the is kind of like you, and a "2" next to the words that are kind of not like you.

In other words 4, 3, 2, 1, with 4 being the most like you and 1 being the least like you. You must use each number and you cannot use any number more than once.

Complete each section!

After you post your numbers, I will analyze you based on this your responses, deductive reasoning, basic psychology tenets, and some intuitive guesswork. (I'm pretty accurate as you will see!)

Section 1

Active, opportunistic, spontaneous

Parental, Traditional, Responsible

Authentic, harmonious, compassionate

versatile, inventive, competent

Section 2

competitive, impetuous

practical, sensible, dependable

unique, empathetic, communicative

curious, conceptual, knowledgeable

Section 3

realistic, open-minded, adventuresome

loyal, conservative, organized

devoted, warm, poetic

theoretical, seeking, ingenious

Section 4

daring, impulsive, fun

concerened, procedural, cooperative

tender, inspirational, dramatic

determined, complex, composed

Section 5

exciting, courageous, skillful

orderly, conventional, caring

vivcious, affectionate, sympathetic

philosophical, principled, rational

What insight might you get into your own personality? Could it affect who you should or should not marry or date? Can it affect the jobs you should or should not have? What would it look like if you were having a bad day?

The answers to these and many more questions await your perusal, just take a chance and find out!

I dare you!

This is you for real: You value freedom and excitement. You think that being skillful is more important than structure, logic or rules. You like being spontaneous, planning takes all the fun out of things. You like games and competition. You also like knowledge that you can go out and use right away, but not things that are esoteric or "theoretical."

Above all, you must be free to act and act out. You are a natural born performer. Soem people who know you think you are somewhat of an "actor."

You choose to be impulsive and act on the spur of the moment. You are highly skilled in a variety of fields and you take pride in that. You can use tools and instruments almost as an extension of yourself.

Adventure is your middle name. You have a strong desire to test the linits of everythign around you including your parent's patience, and the top speed of your car. You are a wanderer. You have most likely been to all those places in the back alleys of the mall where others do not go. You like to explore all kinds of places including things like caves.

You are witty and charming and are always the life of the party. (Unfortunately, You are at extremely high risk of drug and alcohol use.)

You live life to the limit and have a cheery outlook. You will not do well in any kind of job that is repetitive and boring. You want to take off for "somewhere else" where, you don't care. Clutter is acceptable to you. Don't look in that closet!:D

Waiting of any kind is psychological death to you. If a line is too long, you will either cut in front or leave entirely. You love to wander as well, and you have been places that the rest of us haven't. You think "Authorized Personnel Only" means you.

Youur tendency to "Do it now!" makes it difficult to save money.

As a lover, you seek a relationship with shared activities and interests. Find someone like yourself, a bold adventurer. You thrve on physical contact and enjoy giving extravagant gifts.

When you are having a bad day you will get rude and defiant, break rules intentionally, and sometimes get physically aggressive.

The bold are pretty damn close.

My wife of 30 years isn't as adventurous as me nor does she enjoy the outdoors nearly as much but we get along fabulously. (I think its because we allow each other to do as we each please as long as family obligations are met)

I don't think I get rude or defiant when having a bad day, I've outgrown the physical aggressiveness part.

OK.. Bruv. Here you go!

You value traditional things in life. people can count on you. You are to a certain extent, predictable. You are future-oriented and are always ready for tomorrow. "Be Prepared" is your motto. Is it raining outside? You probably have the umbrella.

Your personality, "The Responsible one" above all must belong to a group. The cold shoulder is psychological death to you. No matter what social unit is involved you feel that you must "earn your place."

You like family life, saving money and you plan "to really make something of yourself." And you're right you have and you will. Your tendency for preparedness has already put you head and shoulders above others your age.

You value order and cherish the traditions of home and family. You will pass these values on to your children. Steadfastness and loyalty are your trademarks.

You are no free-loader and you believe that everything should be "earned." Work comes before play for you, even if that means a little overtime now and then.

You have a strong sense of right and wrong.

At work, people can count on you. You are loyal and giving. You need to be useful. You are also practical and sensible. Running down the highway naked in not you.

In love, you tend to be serious (actually, you are serious most of the time, but not in a negative way) You have traditional, conservative views on love and marriage. You want a mate who can work along with you, building a predictable, secure life together. You should definitely marry a someone like yourself. Do not marry an adventurer.

You show your love for your loved ones through the practical things that you do. There are most likely no dirty clothes piling up in your house, and everything is ironed, if you are a girl. The hinges are all oiled and the lawn looks like a golf green if you are a boy.

You follow the rules and respect authority. You do not speed and do not double-park. As a matter of fact, you do not have any criminal record of any kind.

You are the backbone of most of the groups you have joined. You have an excellent ability to handle details. You are generous and parental.

When you are feeling down, you worry too much about things you cannot control. Your stress shows itself as fatigue..so watch our for that!

that's the thing Ahso, you take those 3 words in a lump and determine if all of them together are a 4, 3, 2, or 1 pertaining to you. A 4 would mean the entire lot represents you strongly.

Since the test was devised by the military, it probably has a slant of some sort.

The words are designed along psychological profile lines, so they may match the person's personality, but the other words. It's best if you just go with your gut instincts and don't overthink. Your first impressions are usually right.;)

Not that it can be much accurate.

You'd be surprised. It's based on a 500-question Air Force tool that was amazingly accurate. This is the extremely watered-down version, but it's still a powerful test.:-3

Never mind. Minks, you need to redo yours as well.

Remember, in each section:

4 - is MOST like you. (Yeah, I'm that way all the time!)

3 - Kinda like you. (OK, I sometimes act that way.)

2 - Kinda not like you. (Well, maybe sometimes, but not usually.)

1 - NOT like you at all. ( I NEVER act that way!)

It's easiest to find the 4 and the 1, then go back and fill in the 2 and the 3.

Your personality, "The Responsible one" above all must belong to a group. The cold shoulder is psychological death to you. No matter what social unit is involved you feel that you must "earn your place."

I have always been a bit of a loner, hate joining anything, doing this profile thingy is the closest I have "Joined" this site after being here for some time.

You like family life, saving money and you plan "to really make something of yourself." And you're right you have and you will. Your tendency for preparedness has already put you head and shoulders above others your age.

How I would love to save money, or plan, one of my favourite sayings "Life's what happens while your making other plans" John Lennon......and how old do you think I am ?

You value order and cherish the traditions of home and family. You will pass these values on to your children. Steadfastness and loyalty are your trademarks.

Value order ? Better tell my wife that one......she thinks differently

In love, you tend to be serious (actually, you are serious most of the time, but not in a negative way) You have traditional, conservative views on love and marriage. You want a mate who can work along with you, building a predictable, secure life together. You should definitely marry a someone like yourself. Do not marry an adventurer.

My marriage is dooomed then

You show your love for your loved ones through the practical things that you do. There are most likely no dirty clothes piling up in your house, and everything is ironed, if you are a girl. The hinges are all oiled and the lawn looks like a golf green if you are a boy.

I am not a girl, my laundry litters the floor most times, my hinges squeek, my lawn is.....well not very lawnified at all.

You follow the rules and respect authority. You do not speed and do not double-park. As a matter of fact, you do not have any criminal record of any kind.

I do not even drive........

You are the backbone of most of the groups you have joined. You have an excellent ability to handle details. You are generous and parental.

I don't join.......but I am part of groups.....organically....if you know what I mean

When you are feeling down, you worry too much about things you cannot control. Your stress shows itself as fatigue..so watch our for that!

I do worry about stupid things, but strangely I worry about NOT worrying about things I should worry about

Apart from that.....frighteningly true.
I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

Ok, Amethyst. You have a bit of a conflicted personality. Apparently you rewrote your personality at some point in your life. You either decided you weren't popular enough and wrote a personality that was more outgoing, or you decided you were too crazy and wrote a personality that was calmer. This is not a bad thing at all, but the bottom line is that you can never erase your old personality, just put another on top of it in parallel.

(You pull out whichever personality is needed for the situation.)

Your dominant personality is:

you value knowledge and new ideas. Discovering solutions and using your brain are mor important to you than feelings, rules, or nonstop excitement. (This is what makes you hard to figure out to other people.) You really want to know why things work a certain way and that goes for everything from electronics to social dynamics and history.

You prefer to work alone, working in groups makes you uneasy. You need your "space" to sort things out and come up with the answers, so you enjoy your quiet time more than others.

Above all...and this is critical...you HAVE TO BE COMPETENT! You will never do a half-assed job or even not complete a task, it bugs you too much.

You want to understand and control the realities of life. You control your emotions, they do not control you. You pride yourself on multiple abilites. You are probably pretty good at a wide range of things from singing and music to atomic physics. You usually know a little about something right away, and you pick up abilities and knowledge incredibly fast. (more on that later)

You feel best when your ideas are recognized, money isn't as important to you as recognition. ( I hope your boss understands this.)

Here's something for you to know: Although you experience deep feelings, you do not like to express your feelings openly. (Hey, that makes it tough for you at funerals.)

You enjoy power and control overnature. You store up capabilites, intelligence and skils. You love intelligence and store wisdom. I'd bet the farm you watch things like the learning channel, the military channel, and the discovery channel for fun.

Interestingly, you are highly critical of your own abilites, something which is funny because you are usually doing it better than anybody. Besides your compulsion to learn and your obession to improve, you are a very precise and exact person. You speak with a very wide vocabualry from your constant reading and learning process.

You are highly curious, but can be a perfectionist and you often don't understand why everything isn't obvious to everyone. Although you are actually pretty humble, sometimes people mistake your intellect for arrogance. (Sorry about that, don't let it get to you.)

For you knowledge is play. You hate errors and are probably counting my gammmatical mistakes including the fact that the previous sentence was supposed to have a comma. You think on an abstract level that is so far above the common level that you often lose people or are too subtle for them to understand. Especially your humor, which is far from sophomoric.

You think through your relationships carefully.

You value fairness, insight, and justice. That most likely drives you crazy when you her the local news.

You would make an excellent researcher, computer tech, programmer, or scientist. You MUST HAVE A CONSTANT CHALLENGE in your job. I'll bet you moved from job to job when you were younger out of sheer boredom.

In love, you let your head rule yor heart. Since you dislike repetition, you find it difficult to continually express your feelings. You would most likely do well with a mate who would let you establish a realtionship, then leave it to maintain itslef while you devote yor creative energies to your career. In other words, someone like yourself.

In childhood you appeared older than yor years, and had a massive imagination. (Hey, I guess that means you enjoy my stories!) In school, you found it necessary to respect your teachers before you could learn anything from them.

When you are having a bad day you will become aloof, get sarcastic, refuse to cooperate, and possibly withdraw. You are at risk for manic depression.

So how did I do?
