How does one decide what size container to use to accurately gauge rainfall?

If I used a test tube shaped container with inch markings as opposed to a 2 gallon bucket I would have different measurments even though the same amount of rain fell.

It makes my head hurt.

You will need a narrow container to limit the amount of evaporation as that would give you a false result.

The container will have to have sufficient capacity to collect a period's rainfall, a period being the length of time between your readings (hourly, daily, etc.).

Ready made rainfall measurement kits are available. I've never tried them so I couldn'tsay which is good/bad. I depend on a simple crude analysis such as it rained a lot or didn't rain much.

If that helps at all, I'll be very surprised.

Hope that helps.

Her Mum came back from Japan last Friday and she and all her family went away for the weekend. Arabella has gone with them. They come back today and I will have her tomorrow instead this week.

We do get close. Lots of cuddles, romping and tickles.

We watched Shaun the Sheep on the PC so many times today. Mind you, it's quite funny.

The work itself is ok. I've worked at this place before. The permies are ok - game for a chuckle. They've taken on a bunch of us subbies for the same job and there's been a lot of competition between us.

The downside for me is that it takes an hour and a half to get there. On Monday, I will be resurrecting my car and taking it for an MOT to see what work has to be done. With the car, it would take only half an hour to get there.

I'm used to the permies. I've been sub-contracting for nearly 20 years. I prefer it to permanent work.

Thanks for that, LJ.

I have my own company which employs me to hire me out to other companies. This is the distinction between a subby (sub-contractor) and a temp. A temp is employed by an employment agency to work temporarily for a client of the agency.
