council madness .

A COUNCIL will spend up to £16,000 a year sending a boy to school by taxi – even though a bus stops outside his front door.

Daniel Foulds-Holt, 10, will be ferried to and from his lessons, almost five miles away, because he lives 350 metres outside the catchment area of his first choice of secondary school.

A bus to his first choice stops outside his home in Edburton, West Sussex.

But the only way he can get to Steyning Grammar School is by taxi, which the county council has to fund.

Dan’s mum Ros, 45, said: “It makes no sense at all.”

hells teeth you couldnt make it up could you ? this is a totally outrageous misuse of council tax.

so if he lived a few doors along he could catch the bus to his first choice of school.

yet every morning he will see his friends who live on the same street waiting for the schoolbus while this lad is taken by taxi door to door to the same school for the sake of 350 metres .

did some officious jobsworth in the council get a map out one day and drew a red line for the catchment area ? this lad may be bullied or derided at school for this.

this council waste needs to be stopped and let this lad catch the schoolbus like the rest of the children and not be singled out as a special case due to the council jobsworths.
