It may be the mother of all strudels.

It may be the mother of all strudels. Hermann Heindl, a baker from the Vienna suburb of Himberg, made a run at the Guinness World Records with a 1,239-kilogram apple strudel, Austrian media reported Friday.

Although his giant confection still needs official approval, it appeared to significantly surpass the previous record strudel, which Heindl said measured just under 239 metres long. His taped out at just over 366 metres.

Heindl told the Austria Press Agency it took him and two assistants five days working 10-hour shifts to bake the giant dessert.

The recipe reads like a freight declaration: 810 kilograms of apples, 82 kilos of sugar, 78 kilos of flour, 54 kilos of margarine, 40 kilos of raisins, 37 litres of water, 25 litres of rum, 10 litres of oil, two kilos of cinnamon and 1.5 kilos of salt.
