Who's wearing one?

Post by Odie »

I bought 2 poppies today, one for the men and women who fought in the wars to protect us, one for the Iraqi war and the 133 Canadians that have perished so far.

I wear them proudly.

Put a pound in the collection tin, but it's pouring with rain and I'm in an anorak, so didn't take a poppy.

Will get one when I'm home and not having to puncture waterproofs to wear one!
The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"

Lone voice: "I'm not."

Our ladies auxiliary at work sells poppies in August at the street fair. I just made what we call poppy plates to sell in October and November. The money goes to disabled veterans. We do pretty well on it.

No, I don't. Maybe I will take a pic when I'm back to work tomorrow. They are really quite simple. Take a paper plate, poke holes, put poppies through the holes. When someone makes a donation, we write their name on the plate and hang it. We've got quite a few hanging. :D Perhaps I'll take a pic of the wall too. IF I remember to take my camera. :-3

We have quite a few done in memory of people. When a dear friend of mine passed away, I collected $60 for the one plate and squeezed everyone's name on it. He would have loved knowing the plate made so much for such a good cause.

Now that's really different!

I think I will make one for my dad, bless his heart, as he served in WW2, thanks Peg, I will do this and sign it for him, laminate it and place it by his graveside.

Dad will love this.:-4

I think you mean Afghanistan, not Iraq.

I've worn mine since Sunday. Always start wearing it on Nov. 1.
