The American civil war in England!

Post by Raven »

We recently went to an amazing event. An American civil war re-enactment in England, compliments of a group who call themselves the ACWS. The American civil war society. I have to say the authenticity of everything from their costumes to the their flags were incredible. Most of them have done a pilgrimage to what they consider as their holy site, Gettysburg. It was a great day. Hope you enjoy the pics. They re-encacted a little skirmish called the seige of Augusta. The Yanks won it.

Loved the pictures. it looks everyone was into the act pretty good. My favorite shot was of the little drummer boys, and the lone confederate soldier. :D

That was cool, nice touch with the photos being in black and white. I've been to Gettysburg, it is only about a 90 minutes drive away.

They say the artillery barages during the Battle of Gettysburg was so loud, you could hear it hear in Baltimore..................it is a very awe inspiring place to visit.

Ok, let's see if this works.

make sure you turn on your speakers. If an annoying buzzing mosquito appears, just close the page and click on the link again.

This shows the Yankees marching past us.

At the end of the re-enactment, all the soldiers had to discharge their muskets.

Before the battle started, the cannons had to be tested. I can assure you that they were 3 times as loud than this video portrays.

I can hear everything then at the end I see a picture, is this how it's suppose to be, or does a video play all through it?
