I remember watching a documentary about them several years back. They included an interview with the surviving sisters. If I remember, they reside together. At least they did at the time. It is sad thier life was made such a sideshow.
But similar does happen today..you have multiple births of 5 or 6 or more, and it is front page news. Magazines vie for the rights to the babies lives. But, from what I understand, at least the families and children are compensated somewhat for the attention.

Wow, must have been difficult in those days for mum to give birth to all those babies, even these days, with all the advances in medical help and assistance, well, it's still difficult.
I was at the birth of my son, I hated it from the point of view that I was seeing my wife in so much pain, but the result was fantastic, goes withoout saying.
