Douglas Fairbanks, Sr. (May 23, 1883 – December 12, 1939)

Once known as the King of Hollywood, he starred in many silent Action Adventure films. He was one of the founders of United Artists, The Motion Picture Academy, as well as number of other foundations to support the craft. He was friends with Charlie Chaplin and was married to Mary Pickford. In a testament to his character his last words were, “I’ve never felt better.”

"…I hate how I don’t feel real enough unless people are watching." — Chuck Palahniuk, Invisible Monsters
