Passchendaele

Post by minks »

I thought it fitting to mention I saw the flick Passchendaele on Sunday and loved it.

The ratings are so so but that never matters to me.

It was particularly touching for me because the story is based around a Calgarians account of the war.

Very rarely is the Canadian Soldier depicted in the movies.

I thought Paul Gross did an awesome job.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it.

Paul has been on CBC Radio the last few days, promoting the film. He also was interviewed when it was released about a month ago.

He said it's doing quite well at the box office, better than he'd expected.

I haven't seen it yet, but I will. A friend in his late sixties was raving about it. He really liked it. Interestingly, he's German.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Most welcome, I am encouraging my adult children to go see it as well.

I hope you enjoy it. For us it was interesting double the pleasure because it was filled in and around Calgary. A very good job on the scenes. I suppose too it's not so hard to film from that era around here when we still have the vast foothills untouched and our historical heritage park. I liked the way they aged parts of our downtown back to what it could have looked like so long ago.

A great story with great scenery.
