I cannot wait to see this film, the trailers for it look tremendous.
I have seen the stage show in Toronto and in London, England. I bought the CD today and it is wonderful

I have never been to a play, but if I went to one, this would be it. I LOVE the music! When it was such a popular play here, they played a bunch of the songs on the radio. Great stuff! Do you know when this comes out? I think I've only seen one preview, and don't recall when it's opening.

I hate, despise, detest and loathe spending $40 bucks to go see a movie, but I'm going to make an exception in this case!!!

OMG~ Phantom was awesome!! I was blown away by the music, sets, costumes, singing... just a great movie.
Even my 11 year old daughter loved it... (on the way home she told me the phantom didn't look so bad without his mask and she would have picked him)

Ford's theater, washington DC, my home town. lincoln went to see a play, "our american cousin". john wilkes booth shot him in the balcony. he was carried across the street to a rooming house where he died. i saw the pillow where he lay his head, bloodstained ..lincoln was a savior. a great man.

Phantom of the Opera ~ Movie
I definitely want to see this movie. Saw the play once in Chicago - awesome!
I went to a different high school every year. I didn't get to pick my classes. Instead, I'd be in the office and they'd just sign me up for stuff - usually stuff no one else wanted to take like physics. LOL
My third (and final) year of high school, I took Shakespeare.
First day of class, we were all sitting quietly in our seats staring at a large cauldron in the front of the room. After a few moments, a woman wearing a witch costume comes spinning into the room reciting the opening lines of MacBeth in her proper British accent, tending her cauldron, waving her arms and looking very much as a witch should. LOL
I fell in love with Shakespeare that day.
BabyRider, please go see some live theatre. You'll love it. It's much more intense and fun than movies.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.

Yes, the live theater version is someting to experience, live orchestra, singers, dancers and the seamless way the sets appear/disapprear, the costume changes etc... you don't get 20 takes in live theatre like in making a movie.
I have to say though, I am always one to be disappointed by a film after I have read the book/seen the show... but the movie was true to the stage show and was absolutely outstanding

I am sure I'd love it. I want to see a play, ANY play, and I'd love to go to the symphony as well. But our schedules, (mine and my fiance's) are so opposite that it's difficult to set a night we both have free. It will happen, though. I did see "Cats" when I was about 23. That was pretty cool. One of the characters came to my seat and sat there staring at me, (just like cats do) and I scratched behind it's ears. It started purring and tried to climb into my lap. I was laughing so hard all my makeup was running down my face.
