What do you recommend?

I've been trying to decide on movies to add to my list on Netflix. I'm usually a chic flick fan. But I'm looking to fan out my tastes.

What movies do you recommend that someone must see?

"Rush" Jason Patrick and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

2 cops go undercover in a small, but drug-infested town to make buys and bust the entire operation all at once. Each deals with their own addiction, (they have to actually use, to gain dealer's trust) and the problem of living together as a couple when they aren't supposed to be involved.

Greg Allman plays the "head bad guy" and Sam Elliot is the officers boss. Great movie, surprising ending, really a cool flick. Not a chick flick in any sense of the word!

Sam Eliot... heavy sigh...

My little bro's Mustang 5.0 was used for sound effects in that movie!

Try renting some films you normally wouldnt. Netflix is a great resource for that. Check out the Independant Films section. You can find some real gems in there. Have fun !

well Sheryl, you asked me to report back on 'walk the line'...it was typical of most formula singer bio-pics, hard start in life, struggle, success, crisis, overcome crisis, great success and A.find happiness (or B.die in plane crash). joaquin phoenix did a very credible job, and you could see he really studied johnny cash's mannerisms. reese witherspoon bore no resemblance at all to june carter. i did enjoy the reference to sam phillips' sun records, he had quite a stable, carl perkins, elvis, cash, jerry lee lewis, etc. it was good entertainment.

Thanks LC, I think I'll enjoy it. I'm a sucker for those kind of movies. Patsy Cline's so far is my favorite. :wah:

I've only caught that movie once or twice. In highschool we had a debate seminar at the highschool he attended in Lubbock. They had a really neat display about him. They also had his locker and home rooms marked.

Coal Miner's Daughter is my other favorite. I grew up listening to the golden country.

best music bio ever, in my opinion, was 'the rose' with the fabulous bette midler, based on janis joplin's career and life. the music and songs were incredibly well-done and powerful. and sexy as hell.

I've never seen it, and I like Bette Midler.

I'll have to add it to my list.

The John Denver story was on Lifetime today, but I couldn't bear to torture myself. :o
