Daniyal, there are variations on the Pentecostals. Some do get out of hand, like in the examples you provided. Some do not, they abide by the rule that they need an interpretor for it to be a manifest proclamation. If it becomes out of hand, it is not God sanctioned. Other denominations believe that the gift of tongues is only one of the spiritual gifts that can be bestowed, there are other gifts. Other denominations do not believe the gift of tongues is valid past the period of the apostles and the time of those present at Pentecost.

My understanding of biblical history is that denominations evolved when there was a strong disagreement as to the interputation of the writings.

The various denominations follow the same Bible, but their understanding of it differs.

When you snatch pieces/parts of scripture, the meaning can reflect something other than the truth. When studying scripture a person must know who wrote it, when they wrote it, in what language they wrote it, for whom they wrote it and you need to understand what led up to the particular scripture passage(s) and what comes after. Bible scholars study all these things.

As a lay person or student, we are taught to ask God to speak to us through his word. Everyone is in a different place in their spiritual journey and God will meet us where we are, if we will open our heart to Him.

My understanding of "the church" which Jesus came to build, was "the people". We are the church.

I believe there is but one God for all and I choose to worship him in the denomination called Episcopalian.

There are many man-made doctrines. It is not for us to follow them, we must prove things ourselves through the Scriptures if it is what God says.

I Cor. 12: 8-10 (NIV)

8 one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.

From a Pentecostal viewpoint the gift of tongues must be in tandem with the interpeation part, otherwise, they should be silent in the church.

I have been in Pentecostal churches, but they only rarely used the gift of tongues. I remember asking that question when becoming a Nazarene, they do not practice it at all. But my pastor understood why I asked, so we looked together through the Scriptures for that denomination's stand on it.

Who do the people think they are fooling? I can not answer for them. It is my responsibility to answer to God for my actions alone. The ones who practice it differently, it is for them to decide.

I think a denomination needs to be Bible based, and have specific Scripture passages to what their beliefs are. Anything added is man-made, and is for the church goer to descern for themselves, which they should always do by reading the Bible.

I believe in the more simple and useful gift of tongues. In my church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we believe the gift of tongues is real, but the definition is different. The "shouting" and "babblings" of the pentecostal churches are not considered the true gift of tongues. The gift of tongues is always given by God for a specific purpose. Jibberish does not serve a meaningful purpose. An example of a useful purpose of the gift of tongues would be a missionary who is trying to learn another language. The Lord could give that missionary greater ability to speak that language than he could have on his own. This would enable the missionary to effectively teach gospel of Christ to someone in need of hearing it.

Tongues was a special gift for a special purpose. 1 Cor. 14:21-22 tells us that tongues was a sign to unbelieving Israel. It was a sign of judgment against the Jews. There are three other instances where tongues was a sign of judgment.

1. Babel

2. Isa 28:11-13 as a sign of the judgment of Northern Israel by the Assyrians and

3. Jeremiah 5:15-17 where it was a sign of judgment of Southern Israel by the Babylonians.

In the New Testament tongues was a sign of judgment against Israel because they rejected their Messiah and the Romans carried out the Lord's judgment in 70 AD. After this judgment, tongues ceased as the gift had served its purpose. Speaking in tongues today is not from God.

In my church which is highly spiritaul and advanced Charismatic some people do speak in tongues and it is beautiful language indeed I belive it was the language Adam spoke vefoire the fall and it is very powerful against evil spirits. Furthermore other people in my church have the gfift of interpreating what those soeaking in tongues have said and they are never contradicted and in Church it is always beautiful High Praise for God

Ad for the video posted by Christian issues it suggests that at some future point this gift will cease but close to the time of Jeus's return I imagine not right now

Yes, I believe that absolutely, just as I pointed out in my video ... tongues ceased in the 1st century. Nowhere does the Bible say that a tongue was uninterpretable. I often send the following to those who speak in tongues ....

Is the tongue you speak interpretable? The fact that people claim to speak in tongues today is not proof that it is the genuine thing. Are you aware that many religions and sects speak in tongues? Witches go into churches and are welcomed as 'sisters in Christ' because they speak in tongues. The witches say that the difference between them and the congregation is that they know exactly what they are saying as they curse the Pastor and congregation. If you speak in tongues, do you know what you are saying? If not, then next time you speak in tongues why not ask God to reveal to you what you are saying?

I have an Indian friend who attended a Pentecostal Bible college. She told me that when the leader of the college spoke in tongues in front of everyone and he repeated the names of two Hindu gods. The man was unknowingly calling up the spirits behind those gods ... in other words he was calling up demons.

There is a simple method of testing tongues. Make a recording of yourself speaking in tongues and take it to three separate interpreters and ask them to tell you what you have said. If they all come up with the same interpretation then you will know that your tongue is genuine. Also, get a non tongues speaking person to record some of their pretend tongues and see how the interpreters interpret it. I think you will find the result surprising. Are you willing to do this? If the gift of tongues is current then the gift of interpretation would be also and the interpretations will agree with each other. This is a very important issue and I urge you to please consider your position. Bear in mind that the Lord tells us to test all spirits (1 John 4:1) and that the devil can appear as an angel of light (2 Cor. 11:14-15).

I have never known anyone to say that they were willing to do a recording of tongues test (they give many spiritual excuses) but I know that if I spoke in tongues then I would submit to it to find out if my tongue came from an evil spirit - I would like to know. If I got varying interpretations then I would stop speaking in tongues immediately. If you check with a few different interpreters and got conflicting interpretations then you would know that something is wrong.

God says to test the spirits, do it for your sake - and it is a command of God.

I sincerely appreciate what you say ... I also know many Pentecostals and many exPentecostals who have totally disassociated themselves for various reasons but that has no bearing on the subject of tongues. Even the Catholic church and the Masons do good work. If you watch my video, Part A, you will find that just the first two minutes make it obvious that tongues cease before Jesus returns and as you watch the rest of the video, plus Parts B & C, you will find that tongues have indeed ceased.
