Peace be with you.

The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive life everlasting. He was crucified for our sins and resurrected from the dead on the third day. He that believes and is baptized will be saved, he that believes not will be damned.

I'm new to ForumGarden, but I'm not new to the gospel. If you are one of Lord Jesus Christ's sheep, send me a private message or reply here, for the sake of the blood of Jesus. Thank you. Y'know, just tell me a little about yourself, and we can get to know one another, thereby further unifying the body of Christ.

Wolves in sheep's clothing need not apply. For reference:

Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way,

which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in

sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes

of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit;

but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit,

neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is

hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

I am in need of some support from REAL members of the body of Christ.

If you fit that description, as I said, PM me or reply here.

For further clarification on the sort of person I hope will write me:

Mat 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand,

Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom

prepared for you from the foundation of the world

Mat 25:35 For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty,

and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in.

Mat 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me:

I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

^^^^^^^^^^--- these ones...

not those ones ----vvvvvvvvv

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand,

Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire,

prepared for the devil and his angels:

Mat 25:42 For I was hungry, and ye gave me no meat:

I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

Mat 25:43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in:

naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison,

and ye visited me not.

Mat 25:44 Then shall they also answer him, saying,

Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty,

or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison,

and did not minister unto You?

Mat 25:45 Then shall he answer them, saying,

Amen I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not

to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment:

but the righteous into life eternal.

I hope I have made myself crystal clear who I hope will write me,

and who I hope will stay as far away as possible. Pray before replying.

Thanks, and may the grace and peace of God

be with all of you who are in Christ Jesus.

Love in Christ,

"Gannet"

Actually the kingdom of God has arrived. It is here now. Jesus did say that the kingdom of God is within you. He was taking to his disciples and clearly indicated that it was already here.

BTW welcome to the forum. Please keep in mind that this is an open forum and there are those here who are Christians but will not necessarily agree with everything you say. There is and must be give and take here; agreement to agree to disagree. Surely that is enough "agree s" for now. LOL

I didn't feel I could reply, Ted. Wolves in sheep's clothing need not apply, the man said.

I haven't replied in any PM as I'm really uncertain as to what Gannet is really looking for. Who does he consider to be a "Christian"? In fact who gave him the right to make such as designation? That would be a role that God alone can follow.

I did exchange a PM with him but only in response to a question regarding the Anglican Church. It was not a response to his request.

Its simple:

here's how you know if you're a christian:

Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

1) self denial is essential, as is bearing your cross and following JESUS (not someone else) - his sheep hear his voice, and do not follow strangers.

Joh 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

2) love, love, love. if you SAY you're a christian but work iniquity (i.e. not loving people), then you are only deceiving yourself

You insist that the majority of humankind spends eternity in the torment of hellfire being deliberately tortured and yet you claim you worship a loving God who continually sustains the whole of His creation. It's contradictory to the extent of being unbelievable.

I thought it was scapegoating. Isn't that how scapegoats work? They take all the sins of the tribe onto their own head and get ejected from the encampment into the desert to die alone?

I've never understood why people think that "preaching" will get the response desired. Lead by example, not by word. Words are fickle & meaningless without action to give them weight. I can't see your actions, so your words of self-righteousness mean nothing to me.

Is there a way I can block this forum? It irritates the hell out of me. Wait. OH I GET IT! Was that the point? To irritate us so much that the hell just flies out of our spirits!

Brilliant post, Pinky !

I've referenced it here before, but your comment impels me to once again quote the legendary Kinky (rhymes with Pinky) Friedman ("the only full blooded Jew to play the Grand Ole Opr'y", according to his bio), through his masterpiece, "They Ain't Makin' Jews Like Jesus Anymore".

The scenario : Kinky is verbally accosted by an anti-Semite in a Texas bar. Much to the bigot's surprise, Kinky puts down his drink and proceeds to mop the floor with the SOB, all the while singing him these words :

"They ain't makin' Jews

Like Jesus anymore.

We don't turn the other cheek

And lay down like before.

Well, I heard that honky holler

As he started for the door,

They ain't makin' Jews

Like Jesus anymore! " :D

I am not christian so this stuff doesn't apply to me but I have noticed that only those of the christian persuasion feel a need to preach and browbeat others into "believing." I have never been accosted by a Krishna, Buddhist, Moonie, Jew, Pagan, etc. Only christians. It is most offensive.

Oh yes, you have to watch out for Christians. They might speak words you have chosen to be offended by in an attempt to share something with you that brings them joy. The only way to deal with them is to drag something up from the gutter and throw it at them. That's sure to make somebody feel better.

No no, not all christians in general. I'm only speaking of the preachy ones. And why is it that their preaching is never considered unwelcome because after all, they're only spreading joy and trying to "help" us?

I’m not one who believes in forcing a message on someone who doesn’t want to hear it. When Jesus sent out the 70 Disciples he told them if people didn’t want to hear his message to knock the dust off their shoes and move on.

Someone here alluded to a favorite saying of mine, “preach the Gospel continuously and if necessary say something”.

In my mind that doesn’t excuse those who do their best to belittle and offend people who are doing what they believe to be right. I’d 1,000 times rather be wrong for doing what I believe is right than to be wrong for doing what I know to be wrong. Strangely, there are those here who know they are doing wrong with what they say and portray yet are given a free pass as they insult those trying to do what they believe is right.

Pinky;675948 wrote: Sorry if you're so easily offended. I rarely do serious religious discussion as people probably really would be offended. I'm able to take the mickey out of myself regarding my religion, in fact I view self-deprecation occasionally as being a good thing. At this point I’ll let you in on a little secret. Thin skinned Preachers don’t get repeat invitations to speak at secular drug and alcohol rehab centers. I don’t want to disappoint you but you probably can’t offend me. You are welcome to try but I don’t take many things personally anymore.

How do we know when we have crossed the line from insulting to persecuting?

I don't appreciate those "Christians" who go about Bible thumping and hammering a folks either. If they have something worthwhile to give let them do it by example. I know this works.

BTW as a Christian pluralist I appreciate and respect all of the world's great faiths.

He's using the bible as a weapon to proclaim superiority over those who won't talk the same talk. He's actively deterring those who might some day seek spiritual betterment were it not for the exclusive triumphalist unChristlike imagery pumped out at full volume by him and his kind. Gannet is an ignorant tool of Satan and he's poisoning the well.

I can agree with some of that. As for his stance as a Christian that is between him and God.

It is interesting how many can talk the walk as compared to those who walk the talk. In fact if one is walking the talk words are not necessary.

I have no idea as to whether or not he is a "tool of satan", since I don't accept the concept of such an evil being.

I do agree with the rest. Many, many folks have been turned off by this claim to superiority and have looked elsewhere for some form of spirituality. Exclusivism is indeed very wrong and a slap against the sacredness of all of creation. When they use John 3:16 they conveniently forget the first par "For God so loved the world . . ."
