Many, many years ago, there used to be quite the contingent

of photographers going around neighborhoods with a pony

and taking pictures. I'm not sure but I think it was really a job

for some, not just a sideline.

Here is my pic, taken probably about 1959-60 judging from

how old I look. I already had my own horse by then, but we

were visiting cousins 'in the big city'. BTW, for those of you with

riding knowledge, my hands were up because the photog told

me it would "add interest"... I knew better than to ride that way!

I've got a pony photo floating around somewhere as well. The early 60s were a good time for those photographers, they seemed to be at birthday parties and street fairs everywhere. I've never been comfortable around horses and I look like my mom just ordered me to eat some worms... I've got a pretty miserable expression on my face. :wah:

I don't even have a scanner anymore but if I do find it, I can sneak a copy/email at work. I'll take a look.

In the late 50's, a photographer with a pony was going around our neighborhood in Chicago asking moms if they wanted a photo taken with a child on a horse. I remember this...but I was not the subject chosen. For some reason, my sister was chosen. I don't know if she still has that photo or not. She looked really cute sitting on that pony. :-4

Found it and took a photo with my phone. This was from '65, so I was seven. I'm trying to smile for the camera, can you tell? hahaha I've always hated having my photo taken.

Oh geez but that's funny! You're cute, but yes, I believe

that would be called a 'pained' expression!!

I actually remember someone (look at all the people there!) saying I was too old and too big to be on the pony. The whole thing was really embarrassing.
