Gorgeous Louisiana
I've never been in Louisiana this late in the year and I've not seen crepe myrtle, magnolias, azaleas, etc. growing like this. Beautiful!

Gorgeous Louisiana
Walt Whitman - I saw in Louisiana a Live Oak Growing.
I saw in Louisiana a live-oak growing,
All alone stood it, and the moss hung down from the branches;
Without any companion it grew there, uttering joyous leaves of dark green,
And its look, rude, unbending, lusty, made me think of myself;
But I wonder’d how it could utter joyous leaves, standing alone there, without its
friend,
its
lover near—for I knew I could not;
And I broke off a twig with a certain number of leaves upon it, and twined around it a
little
moss,
And brought it away—and I have placed it in sight in my room;
It is not needed to remind me as of my own dear friends,
(For I believe lately I think of little else than of them;)
Yet it remains to me a curious token—it makes me think of manly love;
For all that, and though the live-oak glistens there in Louisiana, solitary, in a wide
flat
space,
Uttering joyous leaves all its life, without a friend, a lover, near,
I know very well I could not.

Yes, Odie. It's certainly beautiful here. The desert where I live is nothing like this, although my yard and plants are nice. I think I'll take some of the moss from the trees and drape it on my cactus.

I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

I am taking pictures, Flop and when I get back to LA, I'll take some more. Right now we're in beautiful Oklahoma at The Grand Lake O' The Cherokees. I hope I pick up some vibes here from ancestors of mine. Meanwhile it's a treasure I didn't know existed in Oklahoma.
GRAND LAKE O' THE CHEROKEES
Grand Lake O' The Cherokees was created in 1940 with GRDA's completion of Pensacola Dam. It is one of the premiere lakes in the Midwest and the crown jewel of a chain of lakes in the northeastern Oklahoma region.
Its 46,500 surface acres of water are ideal for boating, skiing, fishing, swimming and sailing. In fact, the lake, which lies in a southwest to northeast direction, is popular with sailboat enthusiasts wishing to take advantage of the prevailing wind. Normal surface elevation is 742 feet above sea level.
With 1,300 miles of shoreline meandering through the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, everything from bustling lakeside communities to quiet secluded coves and lakeside resorts can be found along its shore. . .
