GGGGRRRR - Tomato wilt Again!!

Post by nvalleyvee »

Tomato wilt - curly leaf virus - whatever you want to call it......:-5

I lost my entire garden to grasshoppers last year - it was the Biblical infestation from hell! I now know why civilizations have talked about starvation caused by locust infestations. I have struggled with this virus for 8 years in 2 separate houses. I was told it was caused by baby grasshoppers. I have 1 plant that looks grey curled and SICK, SICK, SICK. I am thinking about pulling it. I planted 12 tomato plants this year in hopes 6 would survive for canning. I also bought a new grasshopper treatment called NOLO. I think I need to reapply it because it spread it too early.

Any suggestion?

Hi

There is 2 things I have learned that can save a garden from grasshoppers, 1st. is to plant garlic thur out the whole garden all around it and in between the other plants. The 2nd is chickens ,I don't know if you live in the city but even if you do a couple of chickens around your place will keep the bugs down if you live in a close neighborhood don't have a rooster but a few hens will eat the bugs and give you eggs as well.

Good luck .

Be brave and ruthless--pull out the sick plant before they all get it. You will probably have to move your tomato plot as well.
