tagged lags on your doorstep the AA grumpy column

Post by pantoandy »

good afternoon

its his lordship back again digging the dirt and snuffing round the garden of life

unearthing stories about the scumbags that surround us and today is no exeception with prisons in crisis the government has found a novel way to cure prison overcrowding bringing it in by the back door.

TWO hundred bail hostels will be opened in residential areas – and the first locals could hear is a letter informing them tagged prisoners are their new neighbours.

Residents will have NO legal right to protest in advance and are powerless to stop the hostels being opened near schools.

Even local authorities will only be consulted on the “suitability” of a building to house the lags – who will NOT be supervised.

The Tories have uncovered a memo revealing that a Government scheme to open bail hostels in residential neighbourhoods It sets out to avoid the scrutiny of the public, media and councillors.

The private company Clearsprings has been contracted by the Government to provide temporary accommodation for criminal suspects who would otherwise be remanded in custody, and for tagged prisoners released early into the community.

Clearsprings enters into agreements with local authorities when it plans to open a new property.

A previously unpublished Local Authority protocol drawn up by the organisation reveals that their hostels can be opened without public consultation and do not even require the consent of councils or the public.

The memo also states that “immediate neighbours” will only be informed about the plans by letter once the hostels have been given the go-ahead.

It states: “Clearsprings is not required to consult with politicians.

"Once the final inspection has taken place, Clearsprings will introduce themselves to immediate neighbours and provide 24 hour contact details.

“If unable to make contact Clearsprings will leave an introductory letter detailing the scheme The memo also outlines how all enquiries from the media should be handled with “caution”.

Shadow Justice Secretary Nick Herbert said: “The Government has failed to provide enough prison capacity so they’ve devised a covert plan to set up what amount to mini open jails in residential areas while avoiding any consultation with the public.

“Placing offenders in residential properties causes immense aggravation when neighbours suddenly discover what’s going on, only to be told that they are powerless to stop it and the local community didn’t even need to be consulted.

“Nor is this a sensible way to assist homeless offenders, who receive minimal supervision and support in temporary converted accommodation, when what they need is a long-term programme of resettlement.

“In place of these clumsy emergency measures we need a proper programme of prison reform to focus on rehabilitation and ensure that public safety and confidence is maintained.”

lets hope that the election kicks out these labour fools before these lunatic plans come to fruition.

can you imagine it paedophiles, car thieves, burglars, druggies, and all manner of lowlife scum on your doorstep unsupervised and you wont even know it.

lowlife scum thieving and selling drugs in your neighbourhood having nothing to lose because they are going down anyway this is just a stop between the street and jail.

even if they are tagged whats to stop them grabbing what they need ripping the tag off and having it away on their toes before the police get there especially on a friday or saturday night when the police resorces are stretched to the extreme

supervising town centres for drunken mindless boozed up yobs or hunting down drink drivers or speeding motorists what priority will some tagged yob having it on his toes be ? NONE .

we need prisons to lock up this scum not having them prowling around our area nicking whatevers not tied down or selling drugs.

its about time the government woke up to the real world beyond their 4 bedroom semis in leafy surbiton
