Jack Schofield, RIP

Post by spot »

I note with sadness the untimely passing of Jack Schofield, onetime editor of Practical Computing and subsequently Guardian correspondent guiding the last two decades of readers by way of his advice column.

He was, as his obituary indicates, unfailingly polite and helpful. I wrote a couple of pages a month under his direction in the mid-eighties and feel privileged to have done so. He left an impression of calm confidence whenever we spoke.
