Fyre Festival descends into disaster

Post by spot »

A gentleman calling himself Ja Rule appears to be taking flak for a failed festival on a Caribbean island.

People turned up, no suitable venue had been prepared, no acts appeared, food and water were scant, dark descended and the assorted punters had a lousy time.

Mr Rule is to be congratulated for dicking - I think that's the appropriate street word - his marks, because only the most witless currency-rich gimboids would have bought tickets for an event like this in the first place. If you scoured the earth for more deserving victims it would be impossible to find them. A music festival advertised as Jolly Rogering in the Caribbean would cause even a sex-obsessed haddock to have second thoughts.

One can only hope Ja and his associates try it on again. Meanwhile I intend offering "Done By Rule" lapel buttons on eBay.

Jar-Jar Rule plus crucifix.

Ja Rule became a Christian in 2013 when he was promoting the movie I'm in Love with a Church Girl. Ja Rule has spoken about his faith saying, "I want to make sure I'm doing the right thing. I don't want people to misconstrue what I'm doing here. I'm taking baby steps, and I want to get closer to God. I feel it's something you should do in life." - Wikipedia.

And he's selling tickets offering fornication on the beach? As in "Ja Rule gave a toast. 'To living like movie stars, partying like rock stars, and ****ing like porn stars.'"?

You are so slack, Mr Rule. You wouldn't qualify to be my bitch despite even my notoriously low standards. We'll never collaborate. That's just what it is.

And "I truly apologize as this is NOT MY FAULT" suddenly gives Twitter a new meaning altogether. Either the "apologize" is wrong or the "as" is wrong. The "truly" reduces the credibility of the twit to zero whichever you remove.

This guy also promised to have gourmet meals provided

it was a cold cheese sandwich :yh_rotfl OMG I laughed.

I saw this on the news - what a mess

it looked like a refugee camp.

Some festival goers have already hired a attorney.

I laughed :wah:

"All festival goers this year will be refunded in full.... Also, all guests from this year will have free VIP passes to next year's festival," the statement said.

Fool.

Would anyone like to place a bet on either of these unlikely outcomes?

These performers need to be brought to account. If you purchase a ticket in good faith and you dont get what the ticket promises then you should be able to sue for that ticket.

I remember Madonna came out here and she made the ticket purchacers (lets not call them fans, because thats a cop out and assumes they would put up with anything dished out to them) wait 2 or 3 hours after the official time the concert was supposed to begin. Some people got pissed off and left demanding a refund. And so they should be entitled to do.

Having been in, and around the Bahamas for years, I was skeptical from the get-go when I heard about this. Those promoters had no idea what they were getting into.

The words "class action" have appeared.Celebrity lawyer Mark Geragos has filed a $100m lawsuit against Fyre festival organizers Ja Rule and Billy McFarland.

Geragos is working on behalf of plaintiff Daniel Jung and is expecting more than 150 others to join him for a class action suit, seeking damages for alleged fraud, breach of contract, breach of covenant of good faith and negligent misrepresentation. His previous clients have included Michael Jackson and Kesha.

The suit claims the “festival’s lack of adequate food, water, shelter, and medical care created a dangerous and panicked situation among attendees – suddenly finding themselves stranded on a remote island without basic provisions – that was closer to The Hunger Games or Lord of the Flies than Coachella”.

well, they promised a "once-in-a-lifetime event"

I am sure that for many of those people who ponied up twelve grand, it was exactly that.

The fact that they warned "celebrities" not to attend should help the lawsuit.

The island on which they planned the event is about 30 miles long, and half a mile wide, and the high point is about 3 feet above sea level. They really did not think this thing through.

an investor’s lawyers say that if the Exuma land Fyre Festival claimed as a material asset does not exist, the case could escalate to a criminal complaint.

And there was me hoping they'd sting yet more rich fools next year too.

Mr McFarland has copped a plea, by the look of things.

Fyre Festival: Billy McFarland admits fraud over 'luxury' event - BBC News

I expect Mr Rule is kneeling by an altar-rail grinding out prayers to a higher authority. Hey Lord, grab me some press coverage InJesusNameAmenâ„¢.

eta: I stared for a few moments and I wondered, I went to look. InJesusNameAMEN.com is indeed registered, being very appropriately parked on the right hand of GODaddy at a bargain-basement offer price.

Ooh!

Another one bites the dust.

Glastonbury fan 'loses £16k' over VIP tickets

Nathan Challis, from Southampton, said he bought tickets from Hello Front Row for a "luxury yurt" and "tickets not usually available to the public".

The only word I didn't understand in that story was "fan" - the "luxury yurt" wasn't even on site!
