Dave Swarbrick, RIP

Post by spot »

Leaving one of the greatest of musical legacies and having dodged death for decades, Dave Swarbrick has left the field.

He entertained, he educated, he inspired generations of folk fiddlers. There will be pints raised across the world in acknowledgement, and I for one will head down the local folkish music pub to do just that while listening to Kattie Rosser.

Dreadful news and a nation of folkies will weep.

I have to believe it this time - even the Guardian couldn't print his obituary twice before he died.

I too will raise a glass in his honour.
