How come nobody ever complains that Russia spends far too much money on the development and production of weapons while the mafia runs rampant, unemployment is such a problem, and so many Russians are choked by poverty?

Well even if those problems aren't as bad as they were in the past or are the same problems you find other places (I never meant to say that they weren't!) they still exist and in other countries evil weapons firms are considered to be vampires sucking the blood out of the rest of society, interesting that new fighter jets suddenly become a sign of a healthy economy when you change the country they're produced in.
