"conscience of the Senate.".....Robert Byrd

I gotta chuckle about that one.

I think he has NO conscience what so ever:

Just a few points why I say and believe this...

The ex-Klansman filibustered the landmark 1964 Civil Rights Act -- supported by a majority of those "mean-spirited" Republicans -- for more than 14 hours including reading recipes from a cookbook. (Maybe that is WHY Martin Luther King was a Republican? ... click for more) He completely trashed the records and accomplishments of Dr. Rice and Janice Rogers Brown, but he's no racist, he just hates women. And remember he did get that coveted 100% NAACP rating.........

He also opposed the nominations of the Supreme Court's two black justices, liberal Thurgood Marshall and conservative Clarence Thomas. In fact, the ex-Klansman had the gall to accuse Justice Thomas of "injecting racism" into the Senate hearings.

conscience I ask? What conscience????

If this ex-Klansman were a conservative Republican, he would never hear the end of his sordid past. "Ex-Klansman who opposed civil rights and black justices" would appear in every reference to Sen. Byrd. And even the "ex-" would be in doubt. Maxine Waters and Ralph Neas and Julianne Malveaux and Al Sharpton and all the other left-wing bloodhounds who sniff racism in every crevice of American life would be barking up a storm over Sen. Byrd's latest fulminations. Instead, the attack dogs are busy decrying latent racial bigotry where it doesn't exist, while the real thing roams wild and free in their own political backyard.

Some of the more fun facts about Byrd include the fact that he is the only Senator to vote against EVERY Black nominee for any Federal judge position. I sure am glad that he has distanced himself from his racist roots. Even more fun than that little tidbit is the FACT that the NAACP gives him a 100% rating on issues important to them. Byrd is on the Black side of the thirty-three issues deemed important to the NAACP, but he still won't even talk to his yardboy. Hinky.

The ex-Klansman showed his true colors when asked by Fox News Sunday morning talk show host Tony Snow about the state of race relations in America. Sen. Byrd warned: "There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers (Wiggers?) in my time. I'm going to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."

The four S's: Slavery, Secession, Segregation and now Socialism.

What party has REALLY championed civil rights for ALL?

The Democrats or the Republicans?

From its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party until today, the Republican Party has championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. And as one pundit so succinctly stated, the Democrat Party is as it always has been, the party of the four S's: Slavery, Secession, Segregation and now Socialism.

It was the Democrats who fought to keep blacks in slavery and passed the discriminatory Black Codes and Jim Crow laws. The Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan to lynch and terrorize blacks. The Democrats fought to prevent the passage of every civil rights law beginning with the civil rights laws of the 1860's, and continuing with the civil rights laws of the 1950's and 1960's.

During the civil rights era of the 1960's, Dr. King was fighting the Democrats who stood in the school house doors, turned skin-burning fire hoses on blacks and let loose vicious dogs. It was Republican President Dwight Eisenhower who pushed to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1957 and sent troops to Arkansas to desegregate schools. President Eisenhower also appointed Chief Justice Earl Warren to the U.S. Supreme Court which resulted in the 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education decision ending school segregation. Much is made of Democrat President Harry Truman's issuing an Executive Order in 1948 to desegregate the military. Not mentioned is the fact that it was President Eisenhower who actually took action to effectively end segregation in the military.

Democrat President John F. Kennedy is lauded as a proponent of civil rights. However, Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil rights Act while he was a senator, as did Democrat Senator Al Gore, Sr. And after he became president, John F. Kennedy was opposed to the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King that was organized by A. Phillip Randolph who was a black Republican. President Kennedy, through his brother Attorney General Robert Kennedy, had Dr. King wiretapped and investigated by the FBI on suspicion of being a Communist in order to undermine Dr. King.

In March of 1968, while referring to Dr. King's leaving Memphis, Tennessee after riots broke out where a teenager was killed, Democrat Senator Robert Byrd, a former member of the Ku Klux Klan, called Dr. King a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and was assassinated on April 4, 1968.

President Johnson, in his 4,500 State of the Union Address delivered on January 4, 1965, mentioned scores of topics for federal action, but only thirty five words were devoted to civil rights. He did not mention one word about voting rights. Then in 1967, showing his anger with Dr. King's protest against the Viet Nam War, President Johnson referred to Dr. King as "that Nigger preacher."

Contrary to the false assertions by Democrats, the racist "Dixiecrats" did not all migrate to the Republican Party. "Dixiecrats" declared that they would rather vote for a "yellow dog" than vote for a Republican because the Republican Party was known as the party for blacks.

Isn't this just pitiful the way they treat their own?

90.4 percent of Wal-Mart associates reported having some form of health coverage , either through Wal-Mart or another source, in a survey taken during our most recent open enrollment period.

Wal-Mart offers all associates the same health plans. Unlike many large employers in America, both senior management and hourly associates have access to the same health plans. The company also makes the same contribution toward coverage for all its associates and their family members, whether management or hourly, full-time or part-time.

Both full- and part-time Wal-Mart associates can become eligible for health coverage.

Overall, 76.3 percent of Wal-Mart associates were eligible for coverage during the annual 2006 open enrollment period.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the average eligibility rate was 59 percent among U.S. retailers in 2005. Only a quarter of all companies in the U.S. offer health care benefits to part-time employees.

Based on input from associates, Wal-Mart introduced a new Value Plan in 2006, specifically designed to

provide more affordable access to health care coverage. The plan features some first-dollar coverage for doctor

visits and prescriptions, all before associates have to meet their deductibles. In 40 percent of markets, these

innovative plans are available for as little as $11 per month for associates and $0.30 more per day for children.

In the continental United States, every eligible associate – both full- and part-time – has access to individual

coverage starting at less than $23 per month and $0.50 more per day for children. Family coverage starts at $65 per month.

We recently reduced co-pays on generic medications for common conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol and infections from $10 to $3, and the list of $3 generic prescriptions was expanded in January 2007.

After one year of continuous coverage, there’s no lifetime maximum on most health care expenses – protecting

associates and their families from the costs associated with a catastrophic illness. Wal-Mart is one of few retailers to offer this type of coverage.

For many associates, a job at Wal-Mart means new access to health coverage.

According to our fall 2006 open enrollment survey, 53.2 percent of those associates selecting Wal-Mart coverage for the first time said they were previously uninsured. In the same survey, 27.5 percent of associates said they had not previously been able to afford coverage, while 7.8 percent said they were previously on Medicaid.

Considering factors that include the turnover typical of the retail industry, this growth in enrollment leaves Wal-Mart with more than 636,000 associates (or more than one million people, including spouses and

dependents) on Wal-Mart health plans as of January 2007.

A small percentage of -Wal-Mart associates are enrolled in state assistance programs. Open enrollment surveys conducted in 2006 indicate that 1.9 percent of Wal-Mart associates are enrolled in Medicaid programs and 1.2 percent of associates are enrolled in state health programs other than Medicaid.

I read this poll and was shocked: http://pewresearch.org/assets/pdf/muslim-americans.pdf

My friend Bob Lonsberry says it better than I can so I am pasting his article.

http://www.lonsberry.com/writings.cfm?story=2159&go=4

POLL QUESTIONS U.S. MUSLIM ATTITUDES

Muslims are just like other Americans.

That's what the newspaper said.

The problem is, the newspaper lied.

The problem is, a new poll shows that American Muslims are actually very different from most other Americans. And the differences are both troubling and dangerous.

And this isn't bigotry, this is honesty. We don't need another lecture from the imam about the need to respect Islam as a religion of peace, we need American Muslims to come to grips with attitudes among them that are hostile to this society and incompatible with American values.

Let's get to the poll.

It was done by the Pew Research Center and sought to measure the views of Muslims in the United States on a variety of subjects. The poll, as reported by the newspapers, said that Muslims fit nicely in the American mainstream and that their views and attitudes were very similar to their non-Muslim neighbors.

That's what the newspapers said.

And that is true for some Muslims. Older Muslims, mainly, professionals with settled lives. They are within the range of American normalcy.

But they are not all Muslims, and they may not be a majority of Muslims.

And while they cannot be held accountable for the attitudes of all Muslims, neither can America any longer protect the feelings of some Muslims at the expense of ignoring the dangerous attitudes of their brothers and sisters.

For instance.

Twenty-seven percent of American Muslims tell pollsters that they have no opinion about Al Qaida. They can't describe it as either good or bad. Somehow, they can't quite decide.

Let's do the math on that.

There are 2.4 million Muslims in America. Twenty-seven percent of them apparently don't see slitting flight attendants' throats and flying airplanes into buildings as sufficient cause to form a moral opinion. That translates to 816,000 American Muslims whose values and attitudes don't let them conclude that Osama bin Laden is a bad guy.

That's not a fringe, that's a problem.

On top of that you must add the 5 percent of American Muslims who tell pollsters they support Al Qaida. That works out to 120,000. One hundred and twenty thousand Muslims in the United States who think that Al Qaida is a good thing.

That's an army. And added to the others, it leaves just under a million American Muslims who do not condemn an enemy organization that attacked the United States and killed thousands of innocent Americans.

That is not mainstream America. That is, in fact, in complete opposition to the American mainstream. Americans are not ambivalent about September 11. Americans are not confused about Al Qaida. The inability of a third of American Muslims to denounce the world's largest terrorist organization says something that can't be swept under the carpet by op-ed pieces and political correctness and our current national distaste for calling a spade a spade.

Further, there is the belief by 60 percent of American Muslims that someone other than Arabs was responsible for the September 11 attacks.

Let me repeat that. Only 40 percent of Muslims in America believe that Arabs were the perpetrators of the September 11 atrocities. They've watched the same news, seen the same suicide videos, read the same admissions by Al Qaida. And yet 60 percent of American Muslims don't believe Arabs did it.

That's not the American mainstream. That's insane. Actually, it is the warped reality of religious chauvinism. It is a perception based on an illogical social separatism that is evidence of an us-versus-them mentality emanating the majority of American Muslims.

Now, to suicide bombers.

More than a quarter of young American Muslims see nothing wrong with suicide bombings done in the name of Islam. For Muslims under 30, it's 26 percent who agree with the terrorist suicide bombings. Put another way, there are more young Muslims in America who support suicide bombers than there are young Americans in Iraq fighting suicide bombers.

Let's apply that practically. Pretend there are 10 young American Muslim men going through security at the airport. This exhaustive poll shows that it is realistic to expect that two or three of them think there's nothing wrong with terrorist suicide bombings done in the name of Islam. That statistic, of course, is astronomically higher than in the rest of the American population. Wouldn't it, then, be prudent and permissible to screen those young Muslim Americans more closely? Doesn't this startling acceptance of Islamic terrorist technique warrant concern and scrutiny?

Of course it does.

Further, it should be noted that 9 percent of American Muslims over 30 also support the notion of suicide bombing in the name of Islam. And while 9 is a small percentage, applied to a population of 2.4 million, it combines with the 26 percent of younger American Muslims to result in something like 400,000 to half a million Muslims in the United States who agree with Islamic suicide terrorism.

That, again, is not the mainstream.

That is not just like every other American.

Rather, it is a dangerous ideology, a perverse view that cannot be ignored out of fear of offending our Muslim neighbors or crossing some boundary of political correctness.

This poll bears out the suspicions of Americans who truly are in the mainstream. Americans have suspected that while many Muslim neighbors are decent and good people, there is a sizable portion of the American Islamic community whose attitudes are suspect and even dangerous.

There's nothing wrong with saying that. Because, as this poll shows, it happens to be true.

Illegal Aliens Exiting Oklahoma Before New Law Takes Effect

While the federal government has failed, and refused, to secure our borders, Oklahoma (and Georgia, as well) have passed tough new laws on illegal aliens.Follow this link to the original source: "Illegal Aliens Moving Out Of Oklahoma Before New Law Takes Effect"

COMMENTARY:

Illegal aliens are moving out of Oklahoma before new law takes effect, just as happened in Georgia when Georgia passed a similar law.

Thousands of illegal aliens have left the Oklahoma before a law — State House Bill 1804, designed to crack down on illegal immigration — has even taken effect yet. The law takes effect on November 1. Since passage of this legislation, there has been a decrease of about 30-percent in Oklahoma's illegal Hispanic population.

Most illegal immigrants are going to either Kansas or Arkansas. But Arkansas is about to adopt a law like Oklahoma's, and Kansas is considering the same thing.

In Kansas, a three-judge panel recently threw out a sentence on appeal, based on an apparent contradiction in U.S. law. The ruling asserted that while it is illegal to enter the country without the proper documents and permissions, it is not necessarily illegal to be in the country. Such a strange decision draws attention to the need for a new law to close the loopholes.

A very quick way to close our porous borders is to suggest the "No Gravy Train for Illegal Aliens" Law to your local representatives, stating something like the following:Dear state, county, or municipal legislative official:

I urge you to draft and pass a version of the "No Gravy Train for Illegal Aliens" law, that contains substantially the following points:

Each state, each county, or each municipality shall pass a law that makes it illegal to provide anything whatsoever to an illegal alien.

From the government sector:

It shall be illegal, by STATE LAW, to provide anything at all to illegal aliens including, but not limited to: welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, driver's license, business license, government housing, tax supported education, or any other assistance.

There will be no state tax deductions for payments to illegal aliens.

All government transactions will be done in English only (i.e. voter registration, employment applications, permits, etc). From the private sector:

It shall be illegal, by STATE LAW, to do anything at all for an illegal alien including, but not limited to: rent housing, sell real estate, sell vehicles or mobile homes, make loans, sell insurance, provide employment, provide indigent care, cash checks, enroll students, or provide transportation other than back to their country of origin.
In short, prosecuting either the American citizen or the illegal alien would deter the transaction, but prosecuting both the American citizen and the illegal alien would be best. Illegal aliens would find that they have nothing that they could do here: except to go home and get back in line with those seeking to legally immigrate.

14 Good Reasons to Deport Illegal Third World Immigrants

Immigration; Posted on: 2007-09-16 20:40:48

Many European Americans have resigned themselves to the fact that, if things don't change, their children will become minorities within their lifetimes.

Affirmative Action programs give anyone who isn't of European ancestry special benefits when seeking jobs, education or scholarships, and both legal and illegal immigration increasingly squeeze wages and benefits when jobs are available at all. Global corporations think nothing about selling out the future of our people in order to buy labor at the cheapest rates while selling goods at the highest prices -- without caring that such a scheme is not sustainable in the long run.

Meanwhile, forced multiculturalism and multiracialism threaten not only our cultural traditions, but even our genetic survival. While people of other ethnicities and races are encouraged to celebrate their uniqueness and value, any similar attempt on the part of European Americans is shouted down with a variety of epithets.

For the past fifty years, our politicians have ignored our interests and served every master with a fat wallet. The scope of our freedom has declined in every measurable way -- laws trying to criminalize thought, laws restricting free speech, restrictions on the right of self-defense and wholesale destruction of the precious Bill of Rights under the guise of necessity. Our tax dollars flow overseas to enrich or prop up a variety of regimes while our own people remain hungry for opportunity.

But it doesn't have to be like this. Anything that can go wrong can be put right! European Americans United is devoted to informing our people about the issues facing them today and organizing effective issues-oriented activism that will create a brighter future for our children. Join with us and see how bright the future can be!

$11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year. http://tinyurl.com/zob77

$2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

$2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens. http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html

$12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English! http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... ldt.0.html

$17 Billion dollars a year is spent for education for the American-born children of illegal aliens, known as anchor babies.

http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... dt.01.html

$3 Million Dollars a DAY is spent to incarcerate illegal aliens. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... dt.01.html

30% of all Federal Prison inmates are illegal aliens. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/06 04/01/ldt.01.html

$90 Billion Dollars a year is spent on illegal aliens for Welfare & social services by the American taxpayers.

http://premium.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0610/29/ldt.01.html

$200 Billion Dollars a year in suppressed American wages are caused by the illegal aliens. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... dt.01.html

The illegal aliens in the United States have a crime rate that's two and a half times that of white non-illegal aliens. In particular, their children, are going to make a huge additional crime problem in the United States http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/ ... dt.01.html

During the year of 2005 there were 4 to 10 MILLION illegal aliens that crossed our Southern Border also, as many as 19,500 illegal aliens from Terrorist Countries. Millions of pounds of drugs, cocaine, meth, heroine and marijuana, crossed into the U. S. from the Southern border. Homeland Security Report: http://tinyurl.com/t9sht

The National Policy Institute "estimated that the total cost of mass deportation would be between $206 and $230 billion or an average cost of between $41 and $46 billion annually over a five year period." http://www.nationalpolicyinstitute.org/ ... tation.pdf

In 2006 illegal aliens sent home $45 BILLION in remittances back to their countries of origin. http://www.rense.com/general75/niht.htm

So if deporting them costs between $206 and $230 BILLION DOLLARS, Start getting rid of em.' We'll be ahead after the 1st year!!!

Please pass this on. European Americans need to wake up

IMFO............

we can and WILL do just FINE without them

Tens of thousands of Hispanics have left the Tulsa area. And, a law designed to crack down on illegal immigration hasn't even taken effect yet. But, there's a catch.

East Tulsa is where the majority of Hispanics ended up settling. They came by the thousands and now they're leaving that way, too. And, it's all because of one word -- deportation.

Business owner Simon Navarro came to America for a better life. And, he found one on Tulsa's east side.

"I have 11 years here in Tulsa," he says.

But, a tough new state law has much of Tulsa's immigrant population fleeing for fear of deportation.

"Two months ago I heard 25-thousand Hispanics have left Oklahoma," Navarro says.

That is about 30-percent of Oklahoma's Hispanic population.

"They are leaving. A lot have already left."

Francisco Trevino runs Tulsa's Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He says the exodus hurts a lot of people working in a lot of fields.

"I think restaurants, construction, lawn care they do everything we don't want to do," he says.

It's making it hard for local companies to find workers. But, officials are standing firm. If they are here illegally, it's a one way trip home.

And, the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is doing its part to move things along. This week, they're training deputies to handle the deportation process. And word is spreading quickly. Simon has already said a lot of goodbyes.

"People are leaving," he says. "They're scared of the sheriff."

In the end, Trevino says it hurts everyone.

The American citizens in the state of Oklahoma suffer. It's as simple as that."

There is a large group of people on the other side who believe the new law, which takes effect in November, is a good idea.

Most illegal immigrants are ending up in either Kansas or Arkansas. But, that may not be for long. Arkansas is about to adopt a law like Oklahoma's. Kansas is considering the same thing.

Lessons in Holiday Dining With Liberals

By Larry Elder

Just before the holidays, I had my annual dinner with longtime friends -- all political liberals.

My friends' son, now in college, asked me a health care question as I munched on a delicious dish of short ribs. "If you're against government health care insurance, what should poor people do? What, just screw 'em?"

Having known him since birth, I was taken aback by not just the question. I knew that, like Custer, I sat surrounded by liberals. But the harshness of the question surprised me.

Because Republicans, like me, reject the John Kerry-esque argument that "health care is a right ... not a privilege," liberals believe we see a bipolar world -- those with the money have health care, and to hell with those who don't.

So I said, "This is a somewhat complicated question, but the short answer is free enterprise."

"Free enterprise?"

"The reason health care isn't accessible to so many people is because of government interference. For example, a medic in Iraq who attends to fallen soldiers -- but is not an M.D. -- could not return stateside and open a practice. My aunt worked for over 30 years in a maternity ward. She told me that many times the new interns would say, 'Nurse Maggie, what drug should I use, and what kind of dosage?' Yet laws would prevent my aunt from opening up a pharmacy."

"Do you think something like this will happen?"

"It already is," I replied. "Several pharmacies like Walgreens now open up many clinics and provide cheap health care for low-income people."

At this point, his father jumped in and said, "Really? I never heard of that."

"You never heard," I said, "that drug stores like Walgreens now have in-house, walk-in medical clinics so that people can get care for medical problems, the kind of treatment that most people need -- noncomplicated, nonsurgical procedures?"

"No, I never heard of that."

And so it went. But for the record, big drug store chains like CVS, Rite Aid and Walgreens, along with the largest U.S. retailer, Wal-Mart, are expanding walk-in clinics in their stores. Hundreds will be opened this year, and thousands over the next decade. Staffed by nurse practitioners who can examine patients, administer vaccines, and prescribe medications for minor illnesses, these clinics charge much less than a traditional doctor's office visit. Besides increasing access to health care and reducing costs, such clinics reduce the burden on overflowing, ridiculously expensive, we-have-to-treat-you-even-if-you-can't-pay hospital emergency rooms. Available, convenient, affordable walk-in care also catches some illnesses before they become serious and costly. And doctors will have more time available for complex cases.

Despite a growing and aging population, no new for-profit medical school has been constructed in the United States since the early 1900s. In 1980, the Department of Health and Human Services survey predicted a huge surplus of doctors by 2000. State governments stopped building new medical schools, and almost all 126 medical colleges cut back enrollment, and medical graduates declined. The American Medical Association just reported an increase in first-year medical school enrollees for 2006 -- the first increase in decades. The U.S. still has only 126 M.D.-granting medical schools, but some experts predict we need at least 90 more to meet the doctor shortage predicted for 2020.

How many people also don't know that laws prohibit interstate health insurance sales, preventing people in state A from getting medical insurance from a company in state B? According to The Wall Street Journal in 2005, "eHealthInsurance ... compared the cost of a standard family insurance policy ($2,000 deductible with a 20 percent co-insurance) across that nation. ... (A) non-employer-based family policy for four in Kansas City, Missouri, costs about $170 per month, while similar coverage in Boston tops more than $750 a month." Why? Most states mandate the type of services that must be covered -- podiatrists, acupuncturists, massage therapists, etc. -- whether the patient wants it included or not.

Some states force insurers to sell to all applicants at the same price, regardless of their age or health. The result? "Faced with higher premiums for insurance they seldom use, the young and healthy drop their coverage, leaving an insurance pool of older, sicker people -- and even higher premiums. After a decade of such political meddling, the average monthly cost of a family policy in New Jersey bests the monthly lease of a Ferrari."

"Finally," I said to my friends' son, "people with little money still manage to afford cars. And people with little money can, if government set the market free, afford health care coverage. It won't be the type a resident in Beverly Hills gets, but there would be some bare-bones type of coverage if only government got out of the way.

"Now," I said, "can I have another glass of orange juice?"

Don't Mess With A Marine Who's Trying To Eat

Police investigate the scene - The 71-year-old retired Marine who opened fire on two robbers at a Plantation, FL , sub shop late Wednesday, killing one and critically wounding the other, is described as John Lovell, a former pilot for two presidents. He doesn't drink, he doesn't smoke, he works out everyday. Lovell was a man of action Wednesday night. According to Plantation police, two masked gunmen came into the Subway at 1949 N. Pine Rd. just after 11 pm. There was a lone diner -- Lovell, who was finishing his meal. After robbing the cashier, the two men attempted to shove L ovell into a bathroom and rob him as well. They got his money. But then Lovell pulled his handgun, opened fire, shooting one of the thieves in the head and chest and the other in the head. When police arrived, they found one of the men in the shop. K-9 units found the other in the bushes of a nearby business.

They also found cash strewn around the front of the sandwich shop according to Detective Robert Rettig of the Plantation Police Department. Both men were taken to Broward General Medical Center, where one, Donicio Arrindell, 22, of North Lauderdale died. The other, 21-year-old Frederick Gadson of Fort Lauderdale is in critical but stable condition.

A longtime friend of Lovell, was not surprised to hear what happened. '' He'd give you the shirt off his back and he'd be mad if someone tried to take the shirt off your back,” he said. Lovell worked as a pilot for the Marines, flying former Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He later worked as a pilot for Pan Am and Delta. Lovell is not married and does not have children.

He is not expected to be charged, authorities said ''He was in fear for his life,'' Rettig said. "These criminals ought to realize that most men in their 70's have military backgrounds and aren't intimidated by idiots ."Something tells me this old Marine wasn't "in fear" even though his life was definitely at risk. The only thing he could be charged with is participating in an unfair fight. One 71-year young Marine against two punks. Two head shots and one center-body-mass shot....good shooting!. That'll teach them not to get between a Marine and his meal. Don't you just love a story with a happy ending?

The Chinese destroyer Shenzhen, shown arriving in Tokyo last year, and a Song-class submarine are said to have encountered the carrier Kitty Hawk and other U.S. ships in the Taiwan Strait last November as the ships returned to Japan following China's refusal to allow them to port in Hong Kong.

TAIPEI — A Chinese attack submarine and destroyer shadowed U.S. warships in November in the Taiwan Strait, sparking a 28-hour standoff that brought the group to a battle-ready halt in the tense waters, a report in a Taiwan daily said Tuesday.

The confrontation occurred as the Navy aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk and other ships in its battle group were heading back to Japan following China’s sudden cancellation of a long-scheduled holiday port call in Hong Kong, the China Times said, citing U.S. military sources.

The carrier strike group encountered Chinese destroyer Shenzhen and a Song-class sub in the strait on Nov. 23, causing the group to halt and ready for battle, as the Chinese vessels also stopped amid the 28-hour confrontation, the Chinese-language daily reported.

The Kitty Hawk battle group had planned to pass the Thanksgiving holiday in Hong Kong as it had done in previous years, but China refused it entry without giving a reason.

By the time China reversed its decision, the U.S. ships had already turned around and headed for their home port in Japan. China later told the U.S. that its earlier refusal was a “misunderstanding.”

But that incident came on the heels of China’s refusal of safe harbor in Hong Kong for two Navy minesweepers seeking refuge from a brewing storm. Due to that refusal, the ships had to get refueled at sea so they could return to their home port in Sasebo, Japan.

The two incidents have ruffled feathers in Washington.

Adm. Timothy Keating, who heads the U.S. Pacific Command, is in Beijing this week to discuss what he has called China’s “perplexing” refusals, its worrisome weapons programs and U.S.-China military ties.

He told reporters Tuesday that U.S. warships will cross through the Taiwan Strait whenever they choose to.

“We don’t need China’s permission to go through the Taiwan Strait,” Keating said, stressing that it is international waters. “We will exercise our free right of passage whenever and wherever we choose.”

China has expressed its “grave concern” to the U.S. over the Kitty Hawk’s transit through the Taiwan Strait.

Beijing claims Taiwan as its own, vowing to attack the self-ruled island if it moves to formalize its de facto independence.

The U.S., Taiwan’s chief security benefactor, is legally obligated to help defend the island in the face of Chinese saber-rattling.

In 2006, a Chinese attack sub stalked the Kitty Hawk without being detected until it surfaced within firing range of the group.

Last November’s incident, however, could have been unintentional as the Shenzhen was also headed to Tokyo for an historic port call there, just as the Kitty Hawk was denied Hong Kong entry.

Destroyers are known to travel with a submarine escort.

The confrontation ended without incident as all vessels continued on course toward Japan by Nov. 24.

Green Myths On Global Warming — Debunked

TEN GREEN MYTHS, HANGING BY A THREAD

TEN GREEN MYTHS, HANGING BY A THREAD

BUT WHEN YOU SEE THE SCIENCE — HEY THE MYTHS ARE DEAD

THOSE GREEN MYTHS … GET THEM OUTTA YOUR HEAD

Green Myths On Global Warming — Debunked

1 MYTH

Planet earth is currently undergoing global warming

FACT Accurate and representative temperature measurements from satellites and balloons show that the planet has cooled significantly in the last two or three years, losing in only 18 months 15% of the claimed warming which took over 100 years to appear — that warming was only one degree fahrenheit (half of one degree Celsius) anyway, and part of this is a systematic error from groundstation readings which are inflated due to the ‘urban heat island effect’ i.e. local heat retention due to urban sprawl, not global warming…and it is these, ‘false high’ ground readings which are then programmed into the disreputable climate models, which live up to the GIGO acronym — garbage in, garbage out.

2 MYTH

Even slight temperature rises are disastrous, ice caps will melt, people will die

FACT In the UK, every mild winter saves 20,000 cold-related deaths, and scaled up over northern Europe mild winters save hundreds of thousands of lives each year, also parts of ice caps are melting yet other parts are thickening but this isn’t reported as much (home experiment: put some water in a jug or bowl, add a layer of ice cubes and mark the level — wait until the ice has melted and look again, the level will have fallen). Data from ice core samples shows that in the past, temperatures have risen by ten times the current rise, and fallen again, in the space of a human lifetime.

3 MYTH

Carbon Dioxide levels in our atmosphere at the moment are unprecedented (high).

FACT Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, currently only 350 parts per million have been over 18 times higher in the past at a time when cars, factories and power stations did not exist — levels rise and fall without mankind’s help.

4 MYTH

Mankind is pumping out carbon dioxide at a prodigious rate.

FACT 96.5% of all carbon dioxide emissions are from natural sources, mankind is responsible for only 3.5%, with 0.6% coming from fuel to move vehicles, and about 1% from fuel to heat buildings. Yet vehicle fuel (petrol) is taxed at 300% while fuel to heat buildings is taxed at 5% even though buildings emit nearly twice as much carbon dioxide!

5 MYTH

Carbon dioxide changes in the atmosphere cause temperature changes on the earth.

FACT A report in the journal ‘Science’ in January of this year showed using information from ice cores with high time resolution that since the last ice age, every time when the temperature and carbon dioxide levels have shifted, the carbon dioxide change happened AFTER the temperature change, so that man-made global warming theory has put effect before cause — this shows that reducing carbon dioxide emissions is a futile King Canute exercise! What’s more, both water vapour and methane are far more powerful greenhouse gases than carbon dioxide but they are ignored.

6 MYTH

Reducing car use will cut carbon dioxide levels and save the planet

FACT The planet does not need saving, but taking this on anyway, removing every car from every road in every country overnight would NOT produce any change in the carbon dioxide level of the atmosphere, as can be seen using the numbers from Fact 4, and in any case it is pointless trying to alter climate by changing carbon dioxide levels as the cause and effect is the other way round — it is changes in the activity of the Sun that cause temperature changes on earth, with any temperature rise causing carbon dioxide to de-gas from the oceans.

7 MYTH

The recent wet weather and flooding was caused by mankind through ‘global warming’

FACT Extreme weather correlates with the cycle of solar activity, not carbon dioxide emissions or political elections, the recent heavy rainfall in winter and spring is a perfect example of this — it occurred at solar maximum at a time when solar maxima are very intense — this pattern may well repeat every 11 years until about 2045.

8 MYTH

The climate change levy, petrol duty, CO2 car tax and workplace parking charges are justifiable environmental taxes.

FACT As carbon dioxide emissions from cars and factories does not have any measurable impact on climate, these taxes are ‘just another tax’ on enterprise and mobility, and have no real green credentials.

9 MYTH

Scientists on the Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) issue reports that say ‘global warming’ is real and that we must do something now.

FACT Scientists draft reports for the IPCC, but the IPCC are bureaucrats appointed by governments, in fact many scientists who contribute to the reports disagree with the ’spin’ that the IPCC and media put on their findings.

The latest report suggests that the next 100 years might see a temperature change of 6 Celsius yet a Lead Author for the IPCC (Dr John Christy UAH/NASA) has pointed out that the scenarios with the fastest warming rates were added to the report at a late stage, at the request of a few governments — in other words the scientists were told what to do by politicians.

10 MYTH

There are only a tiny handful of maverick scientists who dispute that man-made global warming theory is true.

FACT There are nearly 18,000 signatures from scientists worldwide on a petition called The Oregon Petition which says that there is no evidence for man-made global warming theory nor for any impact from mankind’s activities on climate.

Many scientists believe that the Kyoto agreement is a total waste of time and one of the biggest political scams ever perpetrated on the public … as H L Mencken said “the fundamental aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety, by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary” … the desire to save the world usually fronts a desire to rule it.

... As you watch the flooding in the Midwest , have you noticed that there are no farmers running around with stolen plasma TVs or holding stolen liquor over their heads. There's no looting or yelling "Where's Bush?", "Where's FEMA?, Where's my check?", or "Why isn't the Gov't out here saving me and my farm?"

Likewise, I've also noticed there are no reports of any other country coming to help or sending aid. Where is that guy from the Netherlands who is responsible for disaster aid for the UN ? Interesting contrast ...

Temperature Monitors Report Widescale Global Cooling

World Temperatures according to the Hadley

Center for Climate Prediction.

Note the steep drop over the last year.

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

Finally told where anyone can understand the difference between a conservative and a liberal!

==============

The Little Red Hen..............

She called all of her Democrat neighbors together and said, 'If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?'

'Not I,' said the cow.

'Not I,' said the duck.

'Not I,' said the pig.

'Not I,' said the goose.

'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did. The wheat grew very tall and ripened into golden grain.

'Who will help me reap my wheat?' asked the little red hen.

'Not I,' said the duck..

'Out of my classification,' said the pig.

'I'd lose my seniority,' said the cow.

'I'd lose my unemployment compensation,' said the goose.

'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen, and so she did.

At last it came time to bake the bread.

'Who will help me bake the bread?' asked the little red hen.

'That would be overtime for me,' said the cow.

'I'd lose my welfare benefits,' said the duck.

'I'm a dropout and never learned how,' said the pig.

'If I'm to be the only helper, that's discrimination,' said the goose.

'Then I will do it by myself,' said the little red hen.

She baked five loaves and held them up for all of her neighbors to see. They wanted some and, in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, 'No, I shall eat all five loaves.'

'Excess profits!' cried the cow. (Nancy Pelosi)

'Capitalist leech!' screamed the duck. (Barbara Boxer)

'I demand equal rights!' yelled the goose. (Jesse Jackson)

The pig just grunted in disdain. (Ted Kennedy)

And they all painted 'Unfair!' picket signs and marched around and around the little red hen, shouting obscenities.

Then the farmer (Obama) came. He said to the little red hen, 'You must not be so greedy.'

'But I earned the bread,' said the little red hen.

'Exactly,' said Barack the farmer. 'That is what makes our free enterprise system so wonderful. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But under our modern government regulations, the productive workers must divide the fruits of their labor with those who are lazy and idle.'

And they all lived happily ever after, including the little red hen, who smiled and clucked, 'I am grateful, for now I truly understand.'

But her neighbors became quite disappointed in her. She never again baked bread because she joined the 'party' and got her bread free. And all the Democrats smiled. 'Fairness' had been established.

Individual initiative had died, but nobody noticed; perhaps no one cared...so long as there was free bread that 'the rich' were paying for.

EPILOGUE

=C 2

Bill Clinton is getting $12 million for his memoirs.

Hillary got $8 million for hers.

That's $20 million for the memories from two people, who for eight years, repeatedly testified, under oath, that they couldn't remember anything.

IS THIS A GREAT BARNYARD OR WHAT?

TEXAS DEPUTY SHERIFF VS NEW YORK LAWYER

Only in Texas my friends... Only in Texas ..... Too bad......

A lawyer runs a stop sign and gets pulled over by a sheriff's deputy. He thinks that he is smarter than the deputy because he is a lawyer from New York and is certain that he has a better education then any cop from Houston , Texas . He decides to prove this to himself and have some fun at the Texas deputy's expense.

The deputy says,' License and registration, please.'

'What for?' says the lawyer.

The deputy says, 'You didn't come to a complete stop at the stop sign.'

Then the lawyer says, 'I slowed down, and no one was coming.'

'You still didn't come to a complete stop, Says the deputy. License and registration, please.'

The lawyer says, 'What's the difference?'

'The difference is you have to come to complete stop, that's the law License and registration, please!' the Deputy says.

Lawyer says, 'If you can show me the legal difference between slow down and stop, I'll give you my license and registration; and you give me the ticket. If not, you let me go and don't give me the ticket.'

'That sounds fair. Please exit your vehicle, sir,' the deputy says.

At this point, the deputy takes out his nightstick and starts beating the daylights out of the lawyer and says, 'Do you want me to stop, or just slow down?'

This letter was sent to the Wall Street Journal on August 8, 2008 by Alisa Wilson, Ph.D. Of Beverly Hills, CA.

On July 31, 2008, the Wall Street Journal had an article titled,

“Where’s The Outrage?'

Really. I can tell you where the outrage is. The outrage is here, in this middle-aged, well-educated, upper-middle class woman. The outrage is here, but I have no representation, no voice. The outrage is here, but no one is listening – for who am I?

I’m not a billionaire like George Soros that can fund an entire political movement.

I’m not a celebrity like Barbra Streisand that can garner the attention of the press to promote political candidates.

I’m not a film maker like Michael Moore or Al Gore that can deliver misleading movies to the public.

The outrage is here, but unlike those with money or power, I don’t know how to reach those who feel similarly in order to effect change.

Why am I outraged? I am outraged that my country, the United States of America, is in a state of moral and ethical decline. There is no right or wrong anymore, just what’s fair.

Is it fair that millions of Americans who overreached and borrowed more than they could afford are now being bailed out by the government and lending institutions to stave off foreclosure? Why shouldn’t these people be made to pay the consequences for their poor judgment?

When my husband and I purchased our home, we were careful to purchase only what we could afford. Believe me, there are much larger, much nicer homes that I would have loved to have purchased. But, taking responsibility for my behavior and my life, I went with the house that we could afford, not the house that we couldn’t afford. The notion of personal responsibility has all but died in our country.

I am outraged, that the country that welcomed my mother as an immigrant from Hitler’s Nazi Germany and required that she and her family learn English now allows itself to be overrun with illegal immigrants and worse, caters to those illegal immigrants.

I am outraged that my hard-earned taxes help support those here illegally;

That the Los Angeles Public School District is in such disarray that I felt it Incumbent to send my child to private school; that every time I go to the ATM, I see “do you want to continue in English or Spanish?”; that every time I call the bank, the phone company , or similar business, I hear “press 1 for English or press 2 for Spanish.” WHY? This is America, our common language is English and attempts to promote a bi- or multi-lingual society are sure to fail and to marginalize those who cannot communicate in English.

I am outraged at our country’s weakness in the face of new threats on American traditions from Muslims. Just this week, Tyson’s Food negotiated with its union to permit Muslims to have Eid-al-Fitr as a holiday instead of Labor Day. What am I missing? Yes, there is a large Somali Muslim population working at the Tyson’s plant in Tennessee. Tennessee, last I checked, is still part of the United States. If Muslim's want to live and work here they should be required to live and work by our American Laws and not impose their will on our long history.

In the same week, Random House announced that they had indefinitely delayed the publication of “The Jewel of Medina,” by Sherry Jones, a book about the life of Mohammed’s wife, A’isha due to fear of retribution and violence by Muslims. When did we become a nation ruled by fear of what other immigrant groups want? It makes me so sad to see large corporations cave rather than stand proudly on the principles that built this country.

I am outraged because appeasement has never worked as a political policy, yet Appeasing Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is exactly what we are trying to do. An excellent article, also published recently in the Wall Street Journal, went through over 20 years of history and why talking with Iran has been and will continue to be ineffective. Yet talk, with a madman no less, we continue to do. Have we so lost our moral compass and its ability to detect evil that we will not go in and destroy Iran’s nuclear program? Would we rather wait for another Holocaust for the Jews – one which they would be unlikely to survive? When does it end?

As if the battle for good and evil isn’t enough, now come the Environmentalists who are so afraid of global warming that they want to put a bag tax on grocery bags in California; to eliminate Mylar balloons; to establish something as insidious as the recycle police in San Francisco. I do my share for the environment – I recycle, I use water wisely, I installed an energy efficient air conditioning unit.

But when and where does the lunacy stop? Ahmadinejad wants to wipe Israel off the map, the California economy is being overrun by illegal immigrants, and the United States of America no longer knows right from wrong; good from evil. So what does California do? Tax grocery bags.

So, America, although I can tell you where the outrage is, this one middle-aged, well-educated, upper middle class woman is powerless to do anything about it. I don’t even feel like my vote counts because I am so outnumbered by those who disagree with me.

Baxter Black's Commentary...

From his weekly column - "On The Edge of Common Sense"

A war time commentary by Baxter Black - April 2003

DISCONTENT IN THE HOMELAND

The war hangs heavily over the homeland. We all seem to be going about our business, yet for many of us there is a nagging sense that we should be doing something to help. Most everyone can name someone they know personally, who has gone into harms way. It makes us listen or read or watch the relentless war coverage with a nervous stomach.

Supporters of President Bush are nervous. He has put them all on the line. Their judgment is being held to the fire. But he is not the same man we elected as President. Candidate Bush didn’t seem to have much gravitas. Now he appears Churchillian, a warrior president risen from the ashes of the Twin Towers. Supporters are truly surprised at his commanding presence and resolve.

Non-supporters of President Bush are also nervous. They continue to be suspicious of his strong convictions. They may believe that the war on terrorism does include removing Saddam, but they would be much more comfortable if it was Al Gore instead, who had condemned the axis of evil and acted boldly. Non-supporters still feel cheated by the election, and it is a very difficult pill to swallow. Until they do, they can’t fully support the war effort.

Even the media editorials that are critical of the president and/or the war, or its timing, are almost timid. Assuring us that they support the troops but they just wish we had France’s approval before removing Saddam’s regime. The only local violence and anger we see centers around anti-war protesters. Their vision of reality seems unclear to both sides.

Every community is a microcosm of this discontent. I am surrounded by people, some who support the war, some who have family in Iraq, some who hate the President, some who are pacifists, some who are reasonable, and some who are zealots. I find myself cautious with whom I discuss the war. I’ve conceded that there is not much I could say to change anyone’s mind who disagrees with my view. I have also realized, it doesn’t make any difference what I think. The boulder has already been pushed over the cliff.

So I take the easy way out. I watch, I pray and I hope we win quickly.

I have sympathy with those who cannot reach this same spot with a clear conscience. They are put in the awful position of having to secretly hope Bush fails, so that their low expectations of him are reinforced. Yet they revile Saddam’s cruelty. So they fret. Because they are no less patriotic than the men and women serving, we all want the same thing...peace.

So here we swim in this murky aquarium we call America, submerged in the political emanations of our fellow fish. And every rock dropped in the water, every opinion expressed, every kindness given, heroic act committed and insult hurled affects the level of the water for everyone else.

For my own discontent, I have taken refuge in quoting Edmund Burke, “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men (and women) to do nothing.

Let's See-----

.A Guy named Joe, who happens to be a plumber with ambitions for a bigger business, questioned and challenged a Guy named Barack, who happens to be running for President of the US/Leader of the Free World…

And within 24 hours the Media has given us more information about Joe's life than they've given us about Barack's life in the past 18 months.

Thanks to a diligent press corps, we now know about Joe's professional licensing status, his income tax situation, his employment history, his domestic squabbles, his voting record, everything associated with his personal identity; his education…. It's probably been reported somewhere whether he wears boxers or briefs.

Thanks to a lazy press corps…We still don't know what grades Obama made in college; how he got into Harvard; when he met Bill "the bomber" Ayers; when he stopped doing illegal drugs; his medical history; whether he still smokes cigarettes; the extent of his affiliation with socialist/communist organizations; why he's no longer a licensed attorney; whether he lied on his Bar application;----

Whether he'd qualify for a security clearance if he were just an "average Joe;" what passport he used to travel to Pakistan in 1981; who his ex-girlfriends are; whether he was or still is an Indonesian citizen; why his Kenyan grandmother insists he was born there; whether he was ever legally named Barry Soetoro or anything else besides Barack Hussein Obama-----;

Why he needed the help of a crook to purchase his family home; where he was on Nov. 6 and 7, 1999; what the long-version of his birth certificate says; why he helped an anti-American, pro-Islamic candidate for Kenyan President against US interests; why he listened to Rev. Wright's sermons for 20 years; how many times he took his kids to a Rev. Wright sermon; what he actually did as chair of the Annenberg Challenge; the depth of his relationship with ACORN…

Well, you get the idea.

But, really, I am SO relieved that the Mainstream Media has done its job vetting Joe The Plumber, who is NOT running for public office, but who had the AUDACITY to challenge Barack Hussein Obama, who wants my vote for President of the United States of America."

Now that Barack Obama has won the election, one thing is certain... he will preside over the largest expansion of the government's role in the economy since the 1930s -- with enormous consequences for your investments.

This "New New Deal," as some Democrats are already calling it, may well have the same result as the original one: to turn a sharp, painful recession into a long Depression.

Will that set the stage for a GOP president in 2012 -- the way '70s stagflation under Jimmy Carter set the stage for Ronald Reagan? I doubt it. More likely, Obama will be able to parlay the hard economic times into a second term.

How? The same way FDR did… by blaming everything that happens on his watch on his predecessors. The worse things get, the more the Obamacrats will blame it on "eight years of Republican deregulation, tax cuts and greed," calling for even more government intervention as the solution.

And the media, of course, will back them up

Obama's New Deal No Better Than Old One

By Michael Barone

Barack Obama's supporters are predicting that he will give us a new New Deal. To see what that might mean, let's look back on the original New Deal.

The purpose of New Deal legislation was not, as commonly thought, to restore economic growth but rather to freeze the economy in place at a time when it seemed locked in a downward spiral. Its central program, the National Recovery Administration (NRA), created 700 industry councils for firms and unions to set minimum prices and wages. The Agricultural Adjustment Act (AAA), the ancestor of our farm bills, limited production to hold up prices. Unionization, encouraged by NRA and the 1935 Wagner Act, was meant to keep workers in jobs that the unemployed would have taken at lower pay.

These policies did break the downward spiral. But, as Amity Shlaes points out in "The Forgotten Man," they failed to restore growth.

Double-digit unemployment continued throughout the 1930s; despite population growth, the economy failed to rebound to 1920s production levels. High taxes on high earners (a Herbert Hoover as well as Franklin Roosevelt policy) financed welfare payments ("spread the wealth around") but reduced investment and growth.

The political verdict was negative. New Dealers were whalloped in the 1938 off-year elections. Polls show that Democrats would have lost the White House in 1940 if that election had been decided on domestic issues. But war loomed. France fell in June 1940, just before America's two national party conventions, and Adolf Hitler and his then-ally Joseph Stalin controlled most of the landmass of Eurasia. Republicans did not have an experienced leader in this world crisis -- Democrats did: Franklin Roosevelt, who cynically engineered his nomination for a third term and then swept to victory on foreign policy.

Roosevelt had thought that economic expansion was a thing of the past. But World War II stimulated huge growth in the American economy. New Deal welfare programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Works Progress Administration (WPA) arts program were terminated. Wartime domestic policies were growth stimulators. Veterans Administration home mortgage loans, building on the FHA mortgage program, encouraged home-buying and after the war converted a nation of renters to a nation of homeowners. The G.I. Bill of Rights subsidized higher education for millions of veterans.

These programs stimulated growth partly because they required real effort -- down payments, military service -- from beneficiaries before they received aid.

The postwar Republican Congress elected in 1946 dismantled some New Deal anti-growth policies. Labor unions' powers to strike were sharply restricted. Tax rates were lowered, and wage and price controls were dismantled. Many hold-the-economy-in-place policies were retained until the deregulation of the 1970s and 1980s. But the New Deal was transformed sufficiently to permit buoyant economic growth for two decades after the war.

Obama seems determined to follow policies better suited to freezing the economy in place than to promoting economic growth. Higher taxes on high earners, for one. He told Charlie Gibson he would raise capital gains taxes even if that reduced revenue: less wealth to spread around, but at least the rich wouldn't have it -- reminiscent of the Puritan sumptuary laws that prohibited the wearing of silk. Moves toward protectionism like Hoover's (Roosevelt had the good sense to promote free trade). National health insurance that threatens to lead to rationing and to stifle innovation. Promoting unionization by abolishing secret ballot union elections.

The impulse to social engineering is unmistakable. Government officials will allocate resources, redistribute income, and ration good and services. Use government stakes in banks, insurance companies and Detroit auto manufacturers to maintain the position of those already in place, at the cost of preventing the emergence of new enterprises that might have been spawned by the capital being allocated.

Social engineering of course is far easier when you are dealing with an economy that is frozen in place. It's harder when you have to deal with the creative destruction, the emergence of new firms and businesses, and the decline of old ones, which as Joseph Schumpeter taught is the inevitable consequence of economic growth.

Roosevelt in the 1930s had some extremely competent social engineers, like Harry Hopkins, Harold Ickes and Fiorello LaGuardia, who could enroll 750,000 people on welfare in three weeks and build an airport in less than a year. But even they could not spur the economic growth produced by utterly unknown and unconnected people, as Warren Buffett and Bill Gates were in 1970.

When financial crisis looms, there is an impulse to freeze everything in place and accept what is as the best there can ever be: Barack Obama's new New Deal. The history of the old New Deal suggests this is not a sustainable approach in the long run.

Thomas Jefferson

.....A SMART MAN!

A very smart man.......!

The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those

who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Thomas Jefferson

It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes.

A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.

Thomas Jefferson

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the

government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense

of taking care of them.

Thomas Jefferson

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results

from too much government.

Thomas Jefferson

No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.

Thomas Jefferson

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear

arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

Thomas Jefferson

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of

patriots and tyrants.

Thomas Jefferson

When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe,

we shall become as corrupt as Europe.

Thomas Jefferson

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which

he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.

Thomas Jefferson

Very Interesting Quote

In light of the present financial crisis, it's interesting to read what Thomas

Jefferson said in 1802:

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.'

More Jefferson Wisdom

"On every question of construction [of the Constitution] let us carry

ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect

the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning

may be squeezed out of the text, or intended against it, conform to the

probable one in which it was passed."

"We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.

We must make our election between economy and liberty

or profusion and servitude.

If we run into such debt, as that we must be taxed in our meat and

in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and

our amusements, for our calling and our creeds...

[we will] have no time to think,

no means of calling our miss-managers to account

but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves

to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers...

And this is the tendency of all human governments.

A departure from principle in one instance

becomes a precedent for [another ]...

till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery...

And the fore-horse of this frightful team is public debt.

Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression."

"Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it?

Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom?

Material abundance without character is the path of destruction."

"A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, which shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government, and this is necessary to close the circle of our felicity."

"The spirit of resistance to government

is so valuable on certain occasions,

that I wish it to be always kept alive.

It will often be exercised when wrong,

but better so than not to be exercised at all.

I like a little rebellion now and then."

Business as usual in Washington....

Repugs and Demorats keep poring monies down the rat holes!!!!

Senate passes $410 billion spending bill

The measure will fund the U.S. government for the rest of the budget year; critics oppose $8 billion in 'pork-barrel' projects.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A massive spending bill that funds the U.S. government for the rest of the budget year passed the Senate on Tuesday despite complaints about nearly $8 billion in what critics called "pork-barrel" projects.

Senators voted 62-35 to cut off debate on the $410 billion measure and passed it on a voice vote immediately afterward.

The omnibus spending bill includes more than 8,000 congressional "earmarks," which total almost $8 billion. The earmarks have caused critics to question President Barack Obama's pledge to end wasteful spending, but Obama administration officials say the bill is a holdover from the previous Congress and the Bush administration.

"It is in America's best interest to close the book on the last administration and let the new one hit the ground running," said Sen. Daniel Inouye, the Democratic chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.

But Sen. John McCain, a longtime critic of congressional spending and Obama's Republican opponent in the 2008 election, said the vote shows "business as usual" remained the order of the day.

"If the president were serious about his pledge for change, he would veto this bill. He won't," McCain said.

The bill funds the U.S. government through September, when the 2008 budget year ends. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, postponed the vote last week because he wasn't sure supporters had the 60 votes needed to break a potential GOP filibuster.

The measure passed the House of Representatives last week.

According to the watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense, only McCain and four other senators had no earmarked spending requests in the bill -- Tom Coburn, R-Oklahoma; Jim DeMint, R-South Carolina; Russ Feingold, D-Wisconsin; and Claire McCaskill, R-Missouri.

Senators defeated an amendment from McCain that would have stripped the bill of most of its earmarks.

Senate Votes, 63 to 32, to Defeat McCain’s Move to Cut Earmarks ...

This is SOOO a$$anine............

Dealers can't sell these bikes because of their lead content. :-1

WTF........ How many kids chew or eat their motorcycles...?

You go Malcom!!!!

Aw yes the chickens have come home to roost.

AMA Hall of Famer Malcolm Smith thumbs his nose at federal law and sells a youth ATV

In an act of defiance against what he says is a ridiculous law, AMA Hall of Famer Malcolm Smith sold three youth OHVs on March 19 despite a federal ban on the sale of those vehicles.

Smith sold two 65cc motorcycles and a youth ATV at a rally he organized at his Malcolm Smith Motorsports motorcycle and ATV dealership in Riverside, Calif. Among those attending the rally were fellow AMA Hall of Famers Jeff Ward, Jeremy McGrath and Scot Harden. AMA Western States Representative Nick Haris, Troy Lee and Glen Helen Raceway owner Bud Feldkamp also were there to show support, as well as many other off-road riders and motorized recreation enthusiasts.

A new law -- the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 -- has effectively banned the sale of youth off-highway vehicles (OHVs) as of Feb. 10, 2009. Under the law, which is administered by the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission, manufacturers, importers, distributors and retailers are barred from making, importing, distributing or selling any product intended for children 12 and under that contains more than 600 parts per million of lead in any accessible part.

Smith was a pioneer in off-road motorcycling. He gained fame for his accomplishments in the Baja 1000 and for his gold-medal winning rides in the International Six Day Enduro competitions, but by far his biggest claim to fame was being a star of the influential 1970s motorcycle movie, "On Any Sunday." The scenes of Smith play-riding with his buddies, which included popular actor Steve McQueen, showed people across the country just how fun motorcycling could be. The movie helped launch an explosion in the popularity of off-road motorcycling in America.

Smith said he decided to sell youth machines despite the ban after a woman approached him to buy a motorcycle for her child so that the whole family could ride dirt bikes, and he was forced to tell her she couldn't buy the bike.

At that point, Smith said, he had had enough of the law.

He also said he planned more civil disobedience to bring attention to the law.

Smith and others speaking at the rally urged those attending to contact their federal lawmakers to change the law to allow the sale of kids' motorcycles and ATVs. The AMA also is calling for action to help reverse the potentially devastating effect this could have on the sport of OHV recreation.

Ed Moreland, AMA vice president for government relations, said he fears that if this issue isn't addressed immediately, irreparable harm will be done to family motorized recreational activities, youth racing and the powersports industry.

"Many of the small dealers and suppliers are already struggling with an unfavorable economy and may not survive the loss of their youth vehicle and parts sales," he added.

"Furthermore, it is of utmost importance that young riders only ride appropriately sized machines," he said. "To eliminate the availability of ATVs and motorcycles designed for riders 12 and under will likely cause some consumers to buy OHVs that are physically too large for young riders.

"It makes no sense to trade an effective safety measure like right-sized machines for kids for a theoretical one that prevents them from ingesting lead in the event they eat their motorcycle," Moreland said. "That simply doesn’t happen and youth model motorcycles and ATVs should be put back on the market before someone really does get hurt."

You can help. Write to the CPSC and ask its members to exclude OHVs from the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. Write to:

Chairwoman Nancy Nord

Commissioner Thomas Moore

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission

4330 East-West Highway
Bethesda, MD 20814.

Also, contact your federal lawmakers and ask them to support legislation to exempt youth motorcycles and ATVs from the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. You can contact your federal legislators by going to the "Rights" and then "Issues and Legislation" section of this website.

Plus, there you can sign up for the AMA Government Relations Department's Action E-list so that you can be notified by e-mail when you can make a difference on important issues.

If you would like to circulate a petition to change the law, contact Jessica Irving, AMA grassroots coordinator, at jirving@ama-cycle.org.

In Dothan , AL , a man had a TV on in his office when the news of the Fort Hood military base shootings came on. The husband of one of his employees was stationed there. He called her into his office andtold her what was going on, she got a text message from her husband saying, "I am okay." The cell phone started ringing right after that. It was an ER nurse. She said, "I'm the one who just sent you a text, not your husband." She thought the message would be comforting, but she immediately knew she had to let the wife know what was going on. She said, "I am sorry but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery."

The wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan, AL and drove all night to Fort Hood, TX .

Here is the photo that was taken in the hospital room. His wife made it to Fort Hood about the time he was waking up. President and Mrs. Bush spent 3 days at Fort Hood comforting the wounded and their families without press coverage. Thought I'd share this great outcome..

This soldier's only contact from Obama was when Obama went on TV to downplay the incident.

Islam Explained in Layman's Terms

Adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond's book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat.

Islam is not a religion, nor is it a cult. In its fullest form, it is a complete, total, 100% system of life.

Islam has religious, legal, political, economic, social, and military components. The religious component is a beard for all of the other components.

Islamization begins when there are sufficient Muslims in a country to agitate for their religious privileges.

When politically correct, tolerant, and culturally diverse societies agree to Muslim demands for their religious privileges, some of the other components tend to creep in as well.

Here's how it works:

As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:

United States -- Muslim 0.6%

Australia -- Muslim 1.5%

Canada -- Muslim 1.9%

China -- Muslim 1.8%

Italy -- Muslim 1.5%

Norway -- Muslim 1.8%

At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs. This is happening in:

Denmark -- Muslim 2%

Germany -- Muslim 3.7%

United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%

Spain -- Muslim 4%

Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%

From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply. This is occurring in:

France -- Muslim 8%

Philippines -- 5%

Sweden -- Muslim 5%

Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%

The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%

Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%

At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islamists is to establish Sharia law over the entire world.

When Muslims approach 10% of the population, they tend to increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. In Paris, we are already seeing car-burnings. Any non-Muslim action offends Islam and results in uprisings and threats, such as in Amsterdam, with opposition to Mohammed cartoons and films about Islam. Such tensions are seen daily, particularly in Muslim sections in:

Guyana -- Muslim 10%

India -- Muslim 13.4%

Israel -- Muslim 16%

Kenya -- Muslim 10%

Russia -- Muslim 15%

After reaching 20%, nations can expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings, and the burnings of Christian churches and Jewish synagogues, such as in:

Ethiopia -- Muslim 32.8%

At 40%, nations experience widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks, and ongoing militia warfare, such as in:

Bosnia -- Muslim 40%

Chad -- Muslim 53.1%

Lebanon -- Muslim 59.7%

From 60%, nations experience unfettered persecution of non-believers of all other religions (including non-conforming Muslims), sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon, and Jizya, the tax placed on infidels, such as in:

Albania -- Muslim 70%

Malaysia -- Muslim 60.4%

Qatar -- Muslim 77..5%

Sudan -- Muslim 70%

After 80%, expect daily intimidation and violent jihad, some State-run ethnic cleansing, and even some genocide, as these nations drive out the infidels, and move toward 100% Muslim, such as has been experienced and in some ways is on-going in:

Bangladesh -- Muslim 83%

Egypt -- Muslim 90%

Gaza -- Muslim 98.7%

Indonesia -- Muslim 86.1%

Iran -- Muslim 98%

Iraq -- Muslim 97%

Jordan -- Muslim 92%

Morocco -- Muslim 98.7%

Pakistan -- Muslim 97%

Palestine -- Muslim 99%

Syria -- Muslim 90%

Tajikistan -- Muslim 90%

Turkey -- Muslim 99.8%

United Arab Emirates -- Muslim 96%

100% will usher in the peace of 'Dar-es-Salaam' -- the Islamic House of Peace. Here there's supposed to be peace, because everybody is a Muslim, the Madrasses are the only schools, and the Koran is the only word, such as in:

Afghanistan -- Muslim 100%

Saudi Arabia -- Muslim 100%

Somalia -- Muslim 100%

Yemen -- Muslim 100%

Unfortunately, peace is never achieved, as in these 100% states the most radical Muslims intimidate and spew hatred, and satisfy their blood lust by killing less radical Muslims, for a variety of reasons.

'Before I was nine I had learned the basic canon of Arab life. It was me against my brother; me and my brother against our father; my family against my cousins and the clan; the clan against the tribe; the tribe against the world, and all of us against the infidel. -- Leon Uris, 'The Haj'

It is important to understand that in some countries, with well under 100% Muslim populations, such as France, the minority Muslim populations live in ghettos, within which they are 100% Muslim, and within which they live by Sharia Law. The national police do not even enter these ghettos. There are no national courts, nor schools, nor non-Muslim religious facilities. In such situations, Muslims do not integrate into the community at large. The children attend madrasses. They learn only the Koran. To even associate with an infidel is a crime punishable with death. Therefore, in some areas of certain nations, Muslim Imams and extremists exercise more power than the national average would indicate.

Today's 1.5 billion Muslims make up 22% of the world's population. But their birth rates dwarf the birth rates of Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, and all other believers. Muslims will exceed 50% of the world's population by the end of this century.

Adapted from Dr. Peter Hammond's book: Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat.

Well, boys and girls, today we are letting the fox guard the henhouse. The wolves will be herding the sheep!

Obama appoints two devout Muslims to Homeland Security posts. Doesn't this make you feel safer already?

Obama and Janet Napolitano appoint Arif Alikhan, a devout Muslim, as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development.

DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano swore in Kareem Shora, a devout Muslim who was born in Damascus, Syria, as ADC National Executive Director as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council (HSAC).

NOTE: Has anyone ever heard a new government official being identified as a devout Catholic, a devout Jew or a devout Protestant...? Just wondering.

Devout Muslims being appointed to critical Homeland Security positions? Doesn't this make you feel safer already??

Was it not "Devout Muslim men" who flew planes into U.S. buildings 8 years ago?

The Way I see It

Post by BTS »

This was written in Russia, 3 months after Obama took office.

WOW............. At least a Russian saw what we were (ARE) in for.

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their "right" to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our "democracy". Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different "branches and denominations" were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the "winning" side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the "winning" side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper...but a "freeman" whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set "fair" maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.
