Not forgetting Northern Ireland of course :D

Course they will just as we'll be singing flower of scotland and shouting abuse at football matches.

Fulll eu membership or we will be a third world country on the arse end of europe-we have always been more connected to and influenced by europe than most people want to admit. I think you'll see trade with the far east and eastern europe growing and a concomitant decline in the importance of US trade. Trade wars between europe and the US?

Republic, unless the royal family do something really stupid like try and rule sheer inertia and indifference will keep them there.

Do you think the protestants in the north will ever agree to combining with the catholic south?

Capt.-- "English only please."

I know you can't possibly understand the feelings I have for Britain when I am an American, but at heart, that is not who I am. And much of my heritage is English and Irish, and I am just proud of my heritage, and I want to get in touch with it. I just feel that you are discriminating against me because I was not born there, therefore you don't welcome me in this forum.

Please note England and Great Britain are not synonymous, england is part of greater britain or the united kingdom to talk about england when you mean the united kingdom is deeply offensive to those bits that aren't english. Write out a hundred times Great Britain consists of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland-used to be Southern Ireland as well but they escaped.

It's bad enough being american why would you want to admit to being english as well?

Well I could have said Brit Members, those from the British Isles.

No you couldn't, to ask if the British will still be singing there will always be an England is not something any self respecting irishman would do I for one would immediately become suspicious of your claim to be an irishman from Dublin. May you choke on your guinness for thinking such a thing. ;)

I think it's a bit worrysome that England has given so much control to Brussels. I think the english are a bit suprised that they have lost control over it's own borders. It seems most issues discussed at westminster these days are issues coming out of Brussels. Personally, I think the UKIP are going to be upseting alot of seats in parliment. And now that Robert Kilroy-Silk has started his own party, politics in the UK is going to get VERY interesting.

My comments:

1) *Britain*, or "*the UK*".

2) Politicians not telling the truth and supressing information.

3) What discussion?

4) The UKIP, fine, applies pressure to do something 'cos the "mainstream" parties are worried.

5) RKS is an on so many levels.

Interesting, Ireland seems to have done singularly well out of EEC membership and the regional development fund. A lot of the problems with europe I think are as a result of our politicians not fighting our corner. The SNP want independence but to stay in Europe as they reckon they would do quite well.

Next election could be quite interesting-I hope- it has always been scots labour MP's that have kept labour in power, but since labour are no longer even pretending to be socialist who knows. It uses to be said a monkey wearing a labour rosette would get elected in Glasgow, bit unkind not all politicians look like monkeys

We/the Irish farmers did very well out of the EU. Our Labour party like yours in the UK is now much more Social Democrat. They don't like that title. We have a conservative party Progressive Democrats(www.progressivedemocrats.ie)

We used to as well. Interestingly enough Scots conservatives now approve of proportional representation as it's the only way they got a seat in the Scottish Parliament.

As an american, living in britain, let me assure you I have SELDOM found politics as interesting as what I've seen for the past year! I've gone from applauding your parliament to wishing the Queen would dissolve it and rule herself! LOL! I'm still divided on the NI issue, and still puzzled about how Scotland works with a seperate parliament, but I'm learning.

LOL! ethnic? Not at all. Same ethnic background as most of the UK.

What I HAVE had to work on though, is simply understanding the differences in the way english is pronounced and spoken AND spelled throughout this little island.

I keep joking that I've had to become fluent in two languages.......english and ENGLISH! LOL!
