my mammy did too with nasty stretch on white platform knee high boots, maxi a-line denim skirt, some odd jumper and peroxide blonde bouffant hair that had been fixed with a can of elnett hairspray, if she went out she put her afgan full length coat on....I begged to stay at home:wah::wah::wah:

I was only 8 in 1960. I remember having to wear a dress or skirt to school. Got to wear long pants under it when I walked to school on cold days. Had to take the pants off in the coat room when I got here.

Drive in movies.

Having your meal delivered to you on a tray that hung on your window.

25cent Sat. afternoon movies with my box of Mild Duds.

Soda that actually came in a refundable glass bottle.

three inch deep shag rugs.

double dip icecream cones for a nickle.

Those were the days for sure.

The big thing for me in the 60's was the World Cup. 1966 final at wembley. Watched it in a neighbours house when I was 10 England 4....W. Germany 2

I seem to remember going to Wembley for the first match of the 66 World Cup, which was England v Uruguay, can't remember the score but the Queen was there....

Remember The Kinks at the Basildon, Mecca at the time they had just released 'You Really Got Me' and now and again they would play the intro and the crowd would surge forward, Ray Davies made the mistake of leaning too far forward off the stage and he was grabbed and dragged into a screaming mass of girls. He mentioned this some years later in an interview and said his back was still bad....

One of the best nights was at the Chelmsford Corn Exchange when they had three groups, Zoot Money and the Big Roll Band, Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band and the John Knights Chessmen....

Well, I was there, and I remember.

Though the last couple of years got a tad fuzzy.

Yeah,

I am kinda curious why it got drug out of the archives.

But what the heck.

The thing I remember most of the sixties is the space program.

Got to watch all the Mercury and Gemini launches and several of the Apollo shots.

And I don't mean on TV

In 1960 you thought as a child but in 1969 you had put away childish things?

For sure, it was interesting. But when you think that Vietnam was a catalyst, it becomes less awesome-----from one who knows.

The music though..........magnificent.
