We bought our new house last year. This was during the very beginning of landscaping projects. There wasn't a tree or bush on the property when we bought it!

My impatients like bright light....just not direct sun. I also feed the heck out of them too.

Morning sun and evening shade also works great for some of my impatient arrangements I have made.

Your yard looks beautiful though! I was checking out the pictures of your sweet doggie.

Posted too quick... before the wedding shots! Nice!Okay, so the impatiens are in the shade in that pic... what I meant was

it looks like a spot that usually does get sun, it's not under an overhang

or anything. Yup, that's what I meant uh-huh SURE.

:D

So are you about to post what you've done with the new house? I

just bet you are doing a transformation.

You are right, Valarie. My impatients don't get total shade...more like filtered.

I will be sure to post some updated pics at the end of the summer...that is when everything will be looking all pretty...right now...still building beds. Which reminds me...I better get busy!!!

Saucy what beautiful flowers. Question: what where those long white trumpet flowers hanging on the end of your deck from last years pictures. I live in Ill. and I have never seen anything like those. I worked for 13 years in a greenhouse and we never ever had anything like those. I realize this is July 2005 and those were last year maybe even 2003 but could you remember?

i would love to work in a greenhouse one day!!! i want to retire...many years from now and open my own! those are called angel trumpets around this area. i do not know the scientific name for them (i should...i'll try to find out). Those are a real pale yellow in the picture. They also have pink available around here. And!!! they have double blooms too! they are over a 1 1/2 feet long...amazing!!! last year mine was quite bigger than the one in the pic. it had over 60 blooms at one time in september. they smell AMAZING too! if i could, i would send you seed, but i always just take cuttings. i will work on that scientific name for you. ;)

Saucy-Just looked up Angels-trumpet in my Time-Life gardening book and realized why they don't raise them around here. We are a farm county (Ill) and they are considered a noxious weed. They spray everything around here. Also it is considered a very poisionous plant. You may have already knew that. Thanks anyway. My husband would kill me if I even considered planting them.

Wow... I hadn't seen some of these pics Hotsauce... you've got a green thumb too, I see? I'm in the process of starting up a nursery, myself... I'm just not certain which part of the country to set it up in... but I'll have something established here by the spring... I prefer the more unnusual, rare and tropical plants, however... I'm a big fan of your Brugmansia and Strobilanthes plants I see you have there. I'll have to share some of my garden and conservatory pics with ya' sometime. :D
