When asked by Disassociated Press reporters as to what any of this would have to do with the importance of the historical contributions made by the individuals who would be studied, Flynt replied, “well – if you’re going to make it matter of academic relevance as to what the private sexual behaviors of historic individuals were, I just think it’s discriminatory to stop with just gays, lesbians, and transgenders.”

He's got a point. Just think of the fun you can have reading about the roman emperors and roman culture. The proclivities of some early american puritans settlers would be entertaining reading as well. Come to that British puritans were fairly disturbed as well.

Must admit some surprise that you need legislation for something like this it's not as if the fact they were gay etc gets hidden is it? If you're studying any person pr period of history it's perhaps something thats relavant in that cultural attiutudes affect behaviour -attitudes towards domestic violence and whether children should be beaten for instance-apart from that why the need to emphasise it. If its relevant yes if not who cares?

Why the hang up about it? Though the outrage that films such as alexander cause in the states because of its portrayal of alexander as gay was surprising. It's not as though it was a little known feature of his life is it.
