How to be a good Democrat
How to be a good Democrat
1. You have to be against capital punishment, but support abortion on demand.
2. You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create
prosperity. (This one is really important)
3. You have to believe that guns in the hands of law-abiding Americans are
more of a threat than U.S. nuclear weapons technology in the hands of Chinese and North Korean communists.
4. You have to believe that there was no art before Federal funding.
5. You have to believe that global temperatures are less affected by cyclical documented changes in the earth's climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUV's.
6. You have to believe that gender roles are artificial but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of federal funding.
8. You have to believe that the same teacher who can't teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to teach those same kids about sex.
9. You have to believe that outdoorsmen don't care about nature, but loony activists who have never been outside of San Francisco do.
10. You have to believe that self-esteem is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
11. You have to believe that Mel Gibson spent $25 million of his own money to make The Passion Of The Christ for financial gain only.
12. You have to believe the NRA is bad because it supports certain parts of the constitution, while the ACLU is good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
13. You have to believe that taxes are too low, but ATM fees are too high.
14. You have to believe that Margaret Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than Thomas Jefferson, Gen. Robert E. Lee, and Thomas Edison.
15. You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
17. You have to believe that the only reason socialism hasn't worked anywhere it's been tried is because the right people haven't been in charge.
19. You have to believe that homosexual parades displaying drag, transvestites, and bestiality should be constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be illegal.
20. You have to believe that illegal Democratic Party funding by the Chinese
Government is somehow in the best interest to the United States.
21. You have to believe that this message is a part of a vast, right wing conspiracy.

Thanks Scrat, I do love it, and I got it thanks to Nomad.
So, is the socialism example the only one you can find fault with? 'Cuz there's a lot more up there than just that one. :yh_bigsmi
Numbers 1, 3, and 8 are a couple of my favorites.

Socialism has worked to varying degrees just the same as capitalism has. China is the perfect example of an extreme form of socialism working. They are well on their way to becoming (if they are not already) a leading world economic power.Yup. Especially since they've annexed Hong Kong ... unchanged.

BR. I do not believe that the temperature changes in the atmosphere are natural. I believe that human industry has affected the conditions on earth. It's a long discussion though. I guess you can say I have a liberal viewpoint there.
I firmly believe we need to change many things about the way we live. Earth is the only place we have to live, we don't have a spare in the trunk.
Scrat, it's happened once or twice before, and here it is again: I completely agree with you!! I think the rape of our planet committed by mankind is arrogant and inexcuseable. We believe we are invincible and that we can take and take and give nothing back and it will always be here to support us. We are sorely mistaken.

It will always be here. Whatever harm we do will heal.
If a farmer grows a single crop on the same plot year after year, eventually he will sap the land of the nutrients that crop needs. The crop will not grow, but the land will still be there. Let the land lay fallow for awhile; other weeds will grow there and eventually the missing nutrients will be restored. it will be able to sustain the crop again. The farmer can plant seed again. The earth is no different.
We can continue doing as we please until the earth will not support us anymore. We will not grow. The earth will lay fallow for awhile and heal. It will be able to sustain us again. Unfortunately, we don't grow from seed so we won't be around to 'replant'.
It's not that we will kill the poor defenseless earth, but that we're not budgeting our resources. Remember that the people in charge are business people. If we truly want businesses and gov't to change how we use the earth, we need to change our language to something they'll relate to.

How about "If climate change melts the polar ice caps and raises sea levels, your beachfront property in the Hamptons will be worthless. Ditto your stock options if all your customers drown"?
