Something else to worry about ?

Post by Bruv »

Political activist Don DeBar believes "the stakes are extremely" high for a nuclear war between Washington and Moscow due to US policy of military encirclement of Russia.

Like a couple of old boxers past their prime shaping up to each other ?

There is really nothing to be gained by either Russia or the US in such an engagement. There are far more pressing issues in the world today that the threat of nuclear war, in my humble opinion.

Though a Nuclear Winter could certainly take our mind off Global Warming.

Iranian finger pointing.

It appears the Iranians want to create some talk of something other than their impeding production of nuclear weapons.

Never before heard of this Don DeBar. Near as I can find he is best known as a host for some leftist radio station CPRmetro.org, AKA, COMMUNITY PROGRESSIVE RADIO.

Scrapping deeper into the barrel PressTV pulls up the well known leftist Noam Chomsky.

The editorial in the official voice of the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, PRESS TV is at best weak.

It is interesting how the "Left" still wants to make a hero of Russia. Russia has not truly been a communist nation since the early 30s before Jugashvili eliminated most of the old Bolsheviks.

OF course the Right prefers to demonize the Persians, while sucking the teat of the Arab Oil magnates.

Of course the truth is, there is nothing here but a pack of feral dogs fighting over the bones of Democracy.

Funny.

Never heard anyone demonizing "Persians".

Well, the Left have their wing-nuts, as well as do the Right.

And it's all relative. I always thought myself somewhat conservative, but I appear to be pretty far left of center, these days.

I'd be interested to know the difference in perception between our and the US's definition of "left and right" politically speaking.

I have noticed that the word "socialism" has a much more negative connotation in the US than it does here and Europe in general.

Please correct me if Im wrong but my general feeling is that the Republicans seem to be further to the right than our Tories. Now that New Labour have lurched to the right, they are maybe nearer the Democrats than, say, the old Labour party of the 90's.

My gosh

All I did was point out that Press tv is an official voice for the Islamic Republic of Iran and its editorial depended on the opinions of two, ,

You tell me what they are.

I gave links.

I think the Americans (not all of them obviously) believe leftist or socialism equates to communism. And everybody knows that is evil..........just look at China, especially when as a freedom loving country you sell your soul to them for a few plastic Halloween decorations.

There are a number of them who feel that way. My Brother-in-law is one of them. He claims school lunch programs are the first step in the socialization of American. It teaches the kids that the government will provide.

I thought it was just about making sure the little buggers had enough energy to stay awake in class.

Didn't actually notice the links at first, but was addressing more the content than the source. Sorry. (editor here does not automagically highlight, or underline links.)

Whoever PRessTV is, they were just one of several outfits that published DeBar's and Chomsky's claims. Their agenda is simply to stir up trouble. I would hardly think that the Persians are turning to Communism.

Those Americans are uninformed, ignorant & stupid, as the recent election shows. And that goes for those who did not vote as well as most of those who did. Thoroughly disgusted.

I always understood Capitalism & Right Wing to be "The American Way". Anything slightly to the left of that is viewed as being "Downright Commie".

That's it?

I was more specific when I first wrote

"It appears the Iranians want to create some talk of something other than their impeding production of nuclear weapons.".

Nowhere did they cite their useful idiots as a cause for socialism/communism.
