Sweet Memories

Post by Mister Smith »

I wrote this poem quite a while ago

Sweet Memories

I kneel before you and all I can do is cry.

Thinking of the times we had,

Thinking of the times we lost.

The caress of your hand over mine,

The way your lip would squeeze mine in that last parting kiss,

That enchanting smile, always on your face.

Your laugh, even at the slightest thing,

Infectious, inspiring, intimate.

Oh, how I remember that day we first fell in love,

The day destiny first cast its spell.

It was a cool, clear, summer night.

We lay in your back garden, side by side,

Listening to the night,

The silent flight of an owl, the rustle of the grass,

Transported for one fleeting moment to a better world.

You spoke then, your gentle voice just above a whisper,

“See that star there, to the left of the moon,

That star is ours, and ours alone”

You then came closer and whispered in my ear,

“When we are apart, look at this star,

Look at this star and wish.

Wish and one day our dreams will come true.”

Oh, how I have wished to see you again,

To touch, to caress, to hold each other,

To look at our star together one last time.

Now all that is left is fresh flowers on your grave,

And the memories,

Oh, the sweet memories.

Women are bitchy and predictable ...men are not and that's the key to knowing the truth.

"It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all."

Lovely poem.
